Phoned retentions to find out what was happening and they said my phone was sorted on the 7th and it takes 5 to 7 days for delivery so why the tool I dealt with told me the handset will be delivered by Thursday, Friday this week in the e-mail he sent me I do not know! Waited the whole day with leaving the house nothing!!!!!! You still enjoying your beast?

That's why I just went to MTN SP myself, still waiting for MTN Retentions to fax me the upgrade forms.

Yeah man, my Desire HD rocks! Took it in the car today to test the satnav & was pleasantly surprised. I plotted a route and drove a completely different route. The recalculations were always instant, so it works 100% and I'm very happy camper.

Still trying to figure out what to do with 7 home screens, cos never had that much choice with my iPhone. Difficult to handle all the freedom Android gives me.

sigh I need to get my phone through vodacom direct, I have no idea why, but that is my situation sadly. And I have been phoning them since last week, I cant even book/order a phone for myself. Nor do they have their deals for the phone yet!!! ... after a long talk on the phone today with one of their consultants I managed to get him to check their orders list, and miraculously the phone is on it! But they have no ETA of the device? How can it be ordered with no ETA and everyone else is already getting stock and getting more stock. I am not impressed. And I go away in less than 2 weeks and I really want the phone by then

Howzit, received mine this morning from MTN retentions. The courier company called before delivery and gave an estimated arrival time, maybe I got lucky hopefully works out the same for you. Waiting for the damn green light to indicate charge cycle finished.

Lucky you! When you use the phone for the first time, you don't need to charge it, just let the battery run flat. There's just enough juice in the battery to let you configure the phone and pull over your contacts from your old phone, and muck around a leetle bit.

I got a tip-off from another forum member that MTN SP Canal Walk had stock, so just went there immediately and got my phone. Not sure where you are, maybe other members can help.

When I log into HTC Sense on my PC all I get:
“Phone finder" is currently disabled. For security reasons, go to your phone to enable this feature in Settings >> Location >> Phone finder.

I've tried switching “Phone finder" on and off but no luck. Help.

Ok, how did I do it? *scratches head*

First I created an account on HTC Sense, till the point where it asks me to connect my Desire HD to complete the registration. (Did you type in your phone number at the registration process, in +278XXXXXXX format, cos phone finder obviously needs that to find your phone .)

Then I connected the phone and completed the setup....but the site is a bit flaky, first time it just kept loading, then I refreshed and after 3rd try something happened. My phone was showing up on HTC Sense!

Something funny : If you click the "Locate my phone", it will show it as somewhere near Nigeria in the sea, still needs some work to be done by HTC.

*I use Google Chrome 8 and everything worked fine. You using IE8 or 9 beta? 8 should be fine, but 9 might give problems.

Then it's just not updated. Mine's accurate to the point where I can almost judge which room in the house my phone's in.

I'm going to assume your www.htcsense.com account have been setup correctly.


Only started working for me after enabling data sync stuff:


USE WITH CARE AS ENABLING SYNC STUFF WILL CAUSE YOUR PHONE TO START USING COSTLY DATA.


Settings > Accounts & sync [General]

Check:
* Background data
* Auto sync

Accounts & sync [Manage accounts] > HTC Sense

Check:
* Sync HTC Sense

Set Update schedule to (PUSH)

Settings > Location

Check:
* Use wireless networks
* Use GPS satellites.


NOTE: To be on the data safe side make sure that only "HTC Sense" are green/enabled on the [Manage Account] heading under Setting > Accounts & sync. You can enable the others as you see fit. Also installing 3G Watch Dog will help putting your mind at ease when playing with stuff that uses data.

Just click on "product page" or "buy now", and you will see the prices. Or something, somewhere along the line (before you pay) they give the price.

If you got as far as getting your phone to ring from the web site, then you've successfully configured your account on Sense & you're properly logged in.

Chopsuey wrote an excellent guide a few replies back, but if I remember correctly, the phone + web site prompts you to do all of that. If not, go over the steps Chopsuey listed again, should have you up and running in no time.

Well it's something that HTC punts very heavily when marketing the phone so I hope they get the issues sorted out sooner rather than later.

I st post. Find it difficult to see names and/or numbers in sunny conditions. Is there a setting to bold or enlarge the contacts on the DHD to make it more visible?

Ok, so my "all apps" menu is getting a bit full / messy. How do I make sub folders for e.g. games, apps, tools, etc. ?
