HTC DESIRE HD

Well - I applied on Thursday - and apparently my phone has been dispatched - guess I was wrong about February :(

I ordered my screen protector last week Wednesday from eBay... I my grip for my S2000 is from a US company that makes them specifically for the car.

Can't wait for a new phone... Tytn II on the way out :( I'll probably miss it for about 5 min.

well i just phoned vodacomdirect again, and now after phoning for two weeks, this sales rep told me that they are not going to be getting stock of the DHD and thus wont be selling it :( ... needless to say I am upset ... He did tell me that around the country, vodacom outlets have 700 DHD's in stock. ....

Ok scratch that, I managed to get the sales guy to go and talk to the marketing department... and so the story changes, again ... Now it sounds like they have stock (He says out of those 700, some are allocated to them) ... but even though they have stock, the marketing department has not put the deals together yet, and so it is still un-orderable :( ... So I told him to tell the marketing guys to make the darn deals today, and he said the main guy is in a meeting at the moment, so I told him to go talk to the main guy when he comes out. The sales rep did not sound too sure about that, but said fine, and then he told me it takes 24hours for the deals to take effect. So in essence, the earliest I could order would be tomorrow ... regardless though, I shall be calling later.

Guys, what is the battery life like on this phone? Need a days heavy usage out of it at least.....what are you guys getting?

Why don't you just go into a store?

I am supposed to be able to get discount with VodacomDirect, however, with all this hassle, I dont think it is worth it. Plus the payin is more with vodacomdirect, and quite a lot more. I think I may be going to my local vodacom store later.

You need to make a few concessions with a phone like this. For all intents and purposes it has the processing power of a laptop of only a couple of years ago.

That being said, it depends what you regard as heavy usage. Also, you need to be willing to customise the phone's connectivity to your needs - if it's permanently syncing to every service it is able to, your battery life WILL suffer. However, I now easily get 2 days from my normal Desire; just because I'm able to see every Facebook update & change in the weather etc. etc. etc. doesn't mean I need to.

Some one posted that they logged into google maps or locations and allowed the gps to find a lock. They were only about 5km's off if i recall correctly, but it may help you as well

Thank you for contacting us.

In regards to your issue, I can help you with that.

Htc sense

Sorry for the inconvenience. But htc sense has had to go under further construction to get all of the features to work. As they are always modifying the website etc. it is stopping the phone finder and phone ringer features from working. It is also stopping customers creating and logging in on our website.

You may find the features to work and then stop again, as they are very intermittent.

So please keep trying to create an account and log in, as eventually it will work because not all of our customers are having issues at this moment in time.

Htc apologise for the inconvenience. And hope to get the website working and fully functional as soon as possible.

HTC can confirm that HTC Sense.com is currently in development for use in a near future. Specific device variants, including regional or national variations that will have access have not yet been confirmed. Once more detailed information is available on the release date and which of the devices will use this feature then a more formal announcement will be made. Choiced Choices.

BITE YOUR TONGUE! :-)

And the volumes of Blackberries ordered compared to HTC handsets in my stores is a big contradiction regarding your enthusiasm! :p

Well My MTN SP stated the HTC is not worth considering? Now I read this thread

I can upgrade two phones. I preliminary decided on the N8 (obvious) and BB Torch 9800 (for the BIS part)

Convince me otherwise. Why?
Screen size is one reason
Adroid 2.2 another

If you need convincing, then Android probably isn't for you.

The N8 is a camara with a sub-par smartphone strapped to it. If that's your bag, enjoy...

Not very helpful. I really need advice. Why is the N8 Sub par?

I do not need convincing that Adroid 2.2 is a great OS. What about BB 6.0, Win7 mobile and the latest Symbian are lacking?

Sorry I know you guys have been through this before but how do I upgrade to full navigation. I wanna upgrade now but cant find the option to buy the full navigation. Thanks in advance! ps- this phone is insane!

Ugh... "camara"? I need coffee.

Symbian is on its way out. The N8 is somewhat of a last hurrah for the OS as future Nokia smartphones will run a new *NIX-based operating system. BBs are decent enough if you either need enterprise-level mail on the go, or you do a lot of web browsing on your phone, what with BIS and BES. In every other regard the handsets cannot even come close to competing with what else is out there.

As for WinPhone 7 I'm just not wholly convinced as yet. It's still in its absolute infancy & whilst it might well prove to be a force to be reckoned with down the line, I'm not about to be an unpaid beta-tester for MS. :p

Guys, finally getting HTC Sense to make some sense! :)

I deleted my account both from PC and Cell and reinstalled. Works perfectly. YOu have to update location in order for it to get the real location - otherwise it shows outside of Africa in the deep blue sea! I think that's where are the DHD's are right now! ;)

I really love my phone. I dont know why people said the camera is not good - it is GREAT!!! Video recording is not as good as the Samsung Galaxy - but still way better than most. But the picture quality is just awesome!

Speed is amazing - it just zaps through anything - and boy do I have apps!

Enjoy fellow DHD owners (u lucky devils) ;)
