HTC DESIRE HD

Okay stuff I wanna know:
1. How do you download the app market stuff on your PC ?
2. When you download apps on your cell where do the .apk file go ? (I wanna backup just my .apk files to PC or maybe copy from PC to another cell via USB)
3. How do you share, send or copy apps to another cell (not just send the link to an app - I want the whole app sent). I know about e.g. "bump" but that just sends you the link to download!

Guys, I still need answers to above. Please Help. Kingrob !

Damn zoner, you're giving me assignments just before Christmas! You're a slave driver. :p

I never bothered with my iPhone, when I did a clean restore I just downloaded the apps from the App Store again, or downloaded it for seperate phones.

Will find out and report back.

you say that but ACSA still deems cellphones switched on during a flight to be illegal, i dont know why, radio and gsm work on different bands and just are not the same really

But you can put the phone in airplane mode and still watch your movie?

Actually no you can't - They explicitly say that you are not allowed to use phones even with airplane mode. I asked the stewardess what would happen if they caught someone and she said the phone would be confiscated and the person would be arrested when the plane lands.

Hmmm... I'm already on 40% battery and hardly been using the phone :(

Out of interest, I see in running programs it has a ton of apps I opened last night... how do you close them properly when using them?

The first couple of cycles on the battery don't last at all well. You'll need to keep monitoring it as you go along as you might well have installed a rogue app somewhere that isn't being killed off as it should. Bring up the dialer and dial *#*#INFO#*#* & check "Battery history" for anything untoward.

You don't. Android manages its processes in a completely different manner to what you're used to. Just because an application shows on that list doesn't mean it is actually doing anything actively.

Only way to do that is to use a task killer. These apps seem to automagically open themselves when the phone is idle. I use advanced task killer pro.

Was this your experience with the DHD, that is sucked at battery life at first and then came around? This is the only thing stopping me from pulling the trigger. I travel a lot and can do at the minimum 1 days usage. I get 1.5 days out my N1 with hard use and I don't mind charging every night, but a full day is essential.

It says ::

Since last unplugged
Running (47.9%) - Time spent without sleeping : 18m 46s
Screen On (45.3%) - Time spent with screen on : 17m 46s

Take note that you can switch between "Since Boot", "All Time" and "Since Last Unplugged" as well as which stat you're viewing. I'd suggest that, once you've got the phone charged fully again, you use it normally & then check through these stats if you still feel the battery is draining faster than it should.

The one thing that I've found to be an absolute killer is being in an area with poor 3G reception. I've switched my phone to GSM only and have now tweaked all the other settings to where I lose about 3% overnight whilst still connected to WiFi.

Or when you're cycling through 50 different wallpapers. :D

I checked the battery and 10% went to wallpapers. Looks like it was trying to beat the screen.

Ok this might be a really stupid question, but I am struggling with this battery info stuff. How do I reset it all back to 0? I tried doing a restart earlier and it did nothing, but now that I check again, and it is back to 45min of up time, just a bit confused.
Also, is "Up Time", time since last boot/charge? and "Awake Time", total time of actively using the phone?
Please ignore my ignorance ;)

I found this quite interesting:
To also help with Battery Life you can do these steps exactly: 1) Turn your device ON and Charge the device for 8 hours or more 2) Unplug the device and Turn the phone OFF and charge for 1 hour 3) Unplug the device Turn ON wait 2 minutes and Turn OFF and charge for another hour Your battery life should almost double, we have tested this on our devices and other agents have seen a major difference as well.
