HTC DESIRE HD

Just got a notification that 2.3 is ready for my phone- will charge it then do the upgrade (~100megs).

Anything I need to look out for?

EDIT: Couldn't wait: Now on version 2.36.405.8 :)

Which network are you on? Couldn't wait for mine so rooted & flashed. What's the new version like? Faster / smoother ?

Definitely finding LeeDroid HD to be smoother than the old stock Froyo, animations, everything feels a lot faster and better :)

You lucky devil. Do tell how the gingerbread man is dancing on your phone. :)

After five months of HTC Sense not working (The whole device finder, ringer, erase your phone, etc) - I got a call from HTC today... they now claim it might a problem with my phone :-/

Made my day. :)

I have followed this link from the beginning and couldn't wait for me to get a HD. But then some guys suggested to wait for the Sensation. So today i went for a stroll in the mall and just asked the lady if they have a HD, and she said yes, and I said well give it to me! So I am the proud owner of a HTC Desire HD. Now to figure how to get my data from my TyTnII to the Desire, and then start searching the thread to see where I can get that "12 in one" ? special.

Well done!! Enjoy your new phone! :)

*There is a wizard that will copy your contacts from your old phone to your Desire HD, hopefully the TyTnII will be listed there. ;)

If you don't manage to get your contacts across, you should just sync them with a Gmail account on your TyTnII and the Desire HD will automatically import and link them when you login to your Gmail account on there.

Thanks guys. I did manage to transfer my contacts with the wizard and bluetooth. Sadly it did not transfer my notes and calender. Just had a thought, I will copy the files from tht TyTn to my PC and then to the Desire, hope it works.

I have a lot of questions, so i will use Google a lot today.

Just one burning question, how can I be sure that the phone doesn't connect to the internet behind my back?

Turn off autosync and place a widget on the desk to connect/disconnect from mobile network.
Autosync is under Settings -> Accounts & Sync
While you there you can turn off individual data settings for things you dont use, like weather, Twitter, Facebook or other services you dont want as they all can be synced manually from the programs.

MTN?

On MTN, but bought phone from Duty Free, so it's not a standard MTN one.

So far so good- battery got chowed last night, as I left phone to TubeMate a video, which must have got stuck. Phone was dead this morning.

I have turned USB debugging off- do I still need it?

With the fog in CPT, I've noticed a sound as I unlock phone, and fog drifts across the screen. There's nothing similar for sun yet though, and it hasn't rained yet for me to try that one.

Interface is cleaner, I really like the new Quick Settings option on the Notifications bar.

Other than that, seems much of the same. Still got the same auto-correct problems :)

Phone seems faster- only real slow point was loading apps to be deleted- used to take a while to cache the pics/icons or something. This seems to have been fixed. Pics etc seem to load previews a little quicker too.

What's been the general experience with changes to expected battery life??

The weather widget has a demo preview so at least you get to see what the different weather screens look like ...

Use your google account to sync your calender, it works brilliantly and you can modify/access it from your PC.
