HTC DESIRE HD

My phone is incredibly slow these days... not sure whats killing it :(

reboot and check running apps ... after the update my phone seems to be using a little less battery :}
left wi-fi connected all night and only droped 5%

my update has been seemless, apart from my Quadrant scores, everything is relatively normal, tested out my apps this morning, still working as intended, the quadrant thing may be due to some underlying feature of Gingerbread tho, it does not phase me tho.

Trust me - rebooted a lot in the last week :p I'm still on the release version rom. I can't see anything wrong with the running apps.

Out of interest, updating with the latest version from the service providers, would that make it difficult to load a custom rom later?

Hmmm...looks like I won't be updating for a while then. I don't want to screw up my DHD. If I do update, can I revert to froyo?

I still wanna know what the major changes from froyo to GB are ... like settings content or anything,
all i can see are some minor adjustments nothing really cool :{

And now Standard Bank's "go" button, next to Online Banking on their Home page, has disappeared with the new webkit browser.

I cant use online banking on my phone anymore. This is just great.

I started reading the thread from the beginning last week, and this morning I got to the part were people said an upgrade is available, and I immediately started downloading the update.

Then I got to kingrob's comment and immediately paused the download.

My question is; can I just "Discard" the download (88% completed) and wait for a later update?

Yes you can even download it completely and cancel the update when its done downloading as it prompts before doing the actual update.

hi guys checking these posts about the latest update , is it worth doing the update to 2.3 or wait for something better ?
some people saying phone is slower etc or faster and better battery life ....

Stay away.

I am so frustrated with this update, I'm thinking of putting my Desire HD in the drawer and getting my old iPhone out - yes, I'm seriously cheesed-off.

The apps menu annoys the crap out of me. If you scroll it now, it either "bounces" up or down, you can't scroll it that it will stop in the middle anymore. :wtf:

Did you catch my Standard Bank link posted earlier?

As for the menu... Are you on the right 'tab' at the bottom? 'All apps', 'Frequent' and 'Downloaded'? 'Frequent' holds your 16 most used apps, and 'All apps' has been split into pages. Must say I prefer it over Froyo.

if I type in www.fnb.co.za in my browser, I am directed to fnb.mobi/.

What must I do to go to fnb.co.za?

I already have the Standard bank Internet banking shortcut in my bookmarks, I presume it wont be deleted if I upgrade?

I just got a call from a friend that will bring me his phone to downgrade @ lunch time. Will update a how-to when done.

Well that is if its possible.....

Got my update this morning. Loving it so far. Still some 3g issues I think but will check later.

Apps menu is different, I like it better than the continuous scrolling. The apps menu also gives you a quick list to favourites, which it populates by itself, and downloaded apps.

There is also a settings short cut that gives you quick access to Bluetooth WiFi and data when you drag the top bar down.

Will post more if I notice anymore changes.

I found it faster, smoother and better... Not that much better but definitely worth the update.

I'm with Vodacom through nashua mobile.

Open a web page, click on your "Menu" button for Settings and look for a setting called "Mobile View". Untick it and you're done.

That mobi site had a link to the full version... Not sure if its still available though.

Been fiddling around with the gingerbread update, I actually prefer the 16 icon app layout per screen, I used to scroll by the app I was after on numerous occasions, if you want continuous scroll, you can always switch to the list view.

Definitely a few issues with the web browser as has been referred to by KingRob can only hope that these are sorted out.

I haven't noticed any slowing down of the phone, its actually seems to have made my DHD more responsive. This could be a personal observation, due to the fact that over the past couple of days the DHD had been crawling had to do a full reset on numerous occasions to get it up to speed.

Can't comment on battery life yet as I only installed the update last night , battery usage looks as if it is on par with Froyo for the moment.

Other than that I can't see any major changes from Froyo on the surface, sure some of the changes are a bit irritating but I suppose its virtually impossible to please all.

Craaaap...I dont know what to do. Should I update or not? Will they release updates to tweak 2.3?

What is the consensus...2.3 or stay on 2.2?

Quadrant is actually a very good benchmark as to overall system performance.

Remember it tests CPU, Memory, I/O, 2D & 3D Graphics.

My best score now is 1405. :(
