HTC Desire overheating

Hello

My htc desire runs perfectly then suddenly restarts.
I think that it is overheating but am not sure how can i check that.
What would a new motherboard cost?

How hot does it actually get? Can you still hold it fine?
 
No doesnt get very hot just after a while of using it it just turns off and wont start up.
If i leave it for a while it switches back on and is fine for a while
 
Battery Monitor Widget will help you check if it's actually overheating. (Logs can be checked after a restart.)

But when it gets hot enough to shut down, it definitely feels very hot to the touch at the back. So that might not be your issue.

If it is overheating will replacing the battery help?
 
I had that problem about a year ago. The mainboard was replaced under warranty and its been fine since then
