@NetSpike
I got if from Nashua Mobile. MTN [Sandton City] has it physically in stock, but wanted me to pay in R4000! Nashua Mobile gave it to me at R457 /m on the MTN Anytime 200 ... no pay in.
The charger is a 2 prong plug (SA, yes) and works perfectly. I'm pretty much on my laptop most of the time, so will usually charge it while connected.
@MrMocs
I disabled the Location & Weather services (the weather is great, but not worth paying for).
I'm using my glasses cleaner-cloth to wipe the glass.
Impressions so far ... 90% happy 10% little niggles.
Happy about:
The responsiveness of the apps, the graphics quality, the camera (very good in daylight, a bit grainy at night), I'm typing with both thumbs & finding it easy. I LOVE the compass (no practical use, but so much fun).
TomTom is great ... much faster than my old HTC P3300 with Navigon. Calculates routes in a blink & also recalculates just as fast (when you go a different route). I still need to buy a car holder & charger.
All the standard installed apps work really great
I like the "favourites" on the home tab that I can set ... makes things easy to get to.
The kids LOVE the teeter game ... I have to threaten them with violence to get the phone back.
Niggles:
Battery! Admittedly I've been showing off the whole day & trying every single function I can find, but from fully charged to flat in 12 hours!
No Data meter (at least, I haven't found it yet) ... I want to know how much data my 3G connection is taking up
No "page-down" key (I'll have to head over to xda-developers ... I'm sure someone there can tell me how to remap keys). [I installed e-Sword & MS Reader, & BOTH of them NEED a page-down key to be really user friendly)
Portrait / Landscape flipping only works in some apps ... I want it to work on the UI as a whole.
Data connection that connects for no reason I can see ... I want to know what app is doing it & how much data it's using & I want to be able to control it.
DivX! Really, why on EARTH isn't this installed by default! I installed DivX off the web, but it plays a little stuttery ... I really expected it to do better.
Zoom ... The manual give the impression this is available anywhere ... it's not. Specifically with fiddly controls on my "3rd party" apps ... e-Sword, MS Reader & DivX Player ... Getting those tiny buttons selected is a pain & zoom does NOT work on them.
As I said earlier ... mostly happy & I'm sure xda-developers will have solutions to my niggles.
