HTC One X

My phone keeps on loosing signal. When I reset it, it works usually for a bit and then looses the signal eventually again. This seems to happen mostly when I am moving (between towers?). Everything was fine for the first month or 2 - so I doubt it is the sim. (Although I have a homemade micro sim...)

Does anyone else have this problem?

yep. annoying. had it with my first one and even the replacement.

damnit guys i think im having the same issue
i go to bed with signal and wake up to no service,
when i try to manually chose the network it says im not allowed?
i have to reboot/ or chose airplane mode and then put airplane off to get it to work

@iceman23,, is your phone ok now?how did they fix it?
mine is sh26

HI Mayurh, doesn't affect the SIM, affects the signal strength (the wifi antenna is the same one used for phone signal) nothing to do with SIM card...if your signal comes and goes (or is weak where you think it should be strong) then you probably have the much publicised antenna 'issue', to test see an easy way in post #539. Check your S/N if XX26HXXX... or earlier then yip more than likely the problem, HTC only instituted a fix from XX26IXX... onwards.

howsit dude
i just asked on xda and the wifi antena is not the same as the gsm/3g one. so its not the wifi issue
i do have 26sh..and my wifi seems fine.even bluetooth
im chaging from gsm only to auto and im getting a microsim( mine was cut to size) and if the problem still exists
i'l send it in...its past 7 days so either way i'l have to wait
ppl seem to say setting network to auto or 3g only instead of gsm works.and some say a new microsim also works
so im trying those easiest options first

thanks .lets hope i come right.not in the mood to send phone in

Very possibly the sim, I cut a sim once for a friend it was was slightly skew...she lost signal quite a bit...had to reboot to get it working (on an ipad 2)

Do you have a pre-cut sim you can test for a day?

unfortunately not
i'm getting a proper micro sim
lets see how it goes then

Okay...let me also try a new sim. My phone is set on the "auto" mode all the time. So I doubt switching to gsm will make a difference (but will try that too).

Who wants to be awesome and hold my hand while I root my HTC for the first time? Either that or point me in the direction of a decent website? Thanks!

Have you ever rooted a Android device previously?
How much ABD knowledge do you have?

We can start with that info and take it from there...

This is my first Android device. Previously I had iPhones which I Jailbroke. I googled ABD but couldn't find what it stands for :) Android base directories? Big guess!

Edit: Android debug bridge. Totally off! To be fair you did have the letters mixed around :)

Sorry, my bad...

OK,

First you need to install and get a working adb,

Follow this guide.

As prequistes, you will need the drivers for your OS ie Windows or Mac. I only know how to do this on Windows...

Once that is done, you need to register an account with htcdev.com to unlock your bootloader on your One X.

You first need to get adb working before you can unlock the boot loader, so lets get that done.

Hi All

I sent my phone back to MTN after 2 months to have the Wifi issues fixed and it took exactly a week and I now have my phone back. I was hoping to get a new phone, but it was repaired. On the plus side it is working very well and the wifi signal is so strong now it is crazy. If I scan for wifi networks now I can see wifi networks in my neighborhood my laptop cant see!

I have experienced the problem of loosing phone signal as well, so far I havnt seen it happen since I have had the phone back (3 days now).

good to know they fixed the fone dude
where did you take it for repairs

my wif is good.but i wont say exceptional

I sent it to the MTN HVRC (High volume repair center) and they sent it to some other company in JHB. I will check the name later, because you could probably just send the phone straight to them.

thanks its probably regenersis in midrand
