HTC One X

hi,
i was also waiting for latest ota,(2.17...etc )
but found easiest, is to install official leaked RUU ?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1543604&page=168
(read up first ,if you did wat i did , doing above at own risk )
no root, locked bootloader, official stock rom etc.
i downloaded RUU from link above on pc ( 570 mb )
..(you must have htc drivers on your pc)
on HOX ,debugging tick /selected, and i had also selected , phone on charge .
phone connected with usb to pc
i clicked the RUU. EXE on pc and followed instructions on pc
(did not touch phone again , until it was finished.)
NB..you must be on stock rom etc ...
Ten minutes later and its done, very, very straight forward !
Phone, is as most claimed very ,smooth !
Only downside it wipes your phone ,but not apps etc on " sd "
i just made backup on pc incase and reinstalled my apps again.
good luck to who ever .!!

thanks dude
thats awesome
glad the ruu is out
i'll wait a little longer for the ota,not in the mood to setup the phone again.
but hey
atleast the ruu is available

Received a press statement from HTC SA this morning. The update to 4.0.4 is apparently rolling out.

Here's the full statement (though I suspect it's pretty much the same as the global one):

HTC PR said:
As part of our ongoing commitment to ensure customers are receiving software updates that improve their user experience, we are pleased to announce our next upgrade for the HTC One X will be released in South Africa within the next week or so.

The primary update will include an upgrade to Android version 4.0.4 (Ice Cream Sandwich), in addition to an improved Sense experience which will: enable the ability to map menu function to the 'recent app' key (improving visual presentation in non ICS apps like Facebook); improve tab management in the browser with a dedicated tab switching button and enhance camera capabilities such as white balance and continuous autofocus. Furthermore, customers can expect enhancements to memory, platform stability and the overall browsing experience. Other improvements include a Single Sign-On for Facebook allowing user access across applications and browsers and upgrades to Beats audio, which reflect our dedication to providing an authentic sound experience.

From a developer perspective, we are expanding SDK support for Media Link and providing a framework for video call applications to achieve improved performance and quality.

thats great news

thats awesome let us know how it goes and how long they take to do it

Well they fixed the wifi issue and called me the next day to collect, took it in on Monday at 14h30, got a call at 15h00 yesterday.

But the main issue was still there, phone doesnt detect sim, or detects the sim periodically. Spoke to a techie there and he was more than willing to assist, going to call him now to get a status update. Hopefully its done and I wont have to fork anything out :)

Overall really good experience from Regenersis.

Had the same issue w.r.t sim not being detected periodically. MTN is in the process of replacing the phone. Just waiting for stock. MTN told me that any issues within the 1st six months, they replace the phone.

gg za can you send me the details of this. I would also like to get the ball rolling

Having said that I have just updated the firmware to 4.0.4 and sense 4.1 using the RUU method.

Very quick and painless and the warranty is still in tact as its official HTC software used by the data centres themselves to flash phones

I was tired of waiting for it in SA. We are always way behind other countries. I had the same issue with my Galaxy s2

When I upgraded to the One X, my MTN store told me that any problems with the phone within 7 days, they will replace immediately. After 7 days, and up to 6 months, they send the phone for an assessment. If the phone is faulty, they replace with new, not repair, or refurbished units. I took my phone in after 3 weeks, took MTN 4 days to authorise the replacement. Since my MTN shop did not have stock, they had to order in a unit. Waiting for that to arrive now. Should be here by tomorrow.

I downloaded this RUU and then had to download the latest HTC sync software for the USB drivers as the RUU didnt pick up my phone

Did mine this afternoon. Upgrade was fine. Definite improvement w.r .t the smoothness of the phone. However my replacement One X is having the same symptoms of loosing the GSM network.

Phone will be returned tomorrow morning. :-(

My update went smooth. Much better battery life and faster UI. But i am noticing sometimes when I unlock the phone or check the time etc. It has no 3g signal. Sometimes only after a few seconds does it appear. Some of my whatsapp messages dont come through when its like that as wel

Wonder if MTN can sort it out. Just dont want to be without a smartphone for a week or 2 again

I havnt done the update and I am starting to notice similar issues, almost like the phone is going in to deep sleep.

There are bugs on the HTC One X "1.29.401.11" firmware.

People who are having problems with "No signal", "No service" or can't pick sim card on HTC One X. Go to settings -> Power and uncheck "fast boot". This should fix the "no service" problem after reboot. Another bug that I found is that, under "Developer Options", if you set "Window animation scale" and "Transition animation Scale" to "Animation Off", "Animation" becomes disabled and cannot be re-enabled. To re-enable you going to have to download "Developers Tools" on "Google play" to re-enable it.

I hope they fix those bugs in the new "4.0.4" update, other than that the HTC One X is an awesome phone.

Well the size is no problem at all. I would get it if I didn't have a GNex. Best phone on the market now in my opinion
