HTC One X

Am I the only one who is more keen on the One S then the One X? One X just seems to big. The main downside is the screen on the one S :( why htc why...
Seems that the S4 processor is being rated as just as good as the Tegra quad processor.

All the older HTC phones uses a flashing green LED light.

The Desire can do more combinations. Green, Orange, Blue, etc. But the newer HTC's can't - One range included. I wish android would pay more attention to the notification LED. Its very useful knowing whether you have an email or text based on the notification colour.

Yup. The only decider really, is the screen. I'm considering the One S because its a one handed device. You probably get slightly better battery life as an added bonus.

Guys how sure are you that price includes the voice and data package? It makes no sense to me for MTN to sell the phone at R2400 without even taking time value of money for a lowly package like the Anytime200.

Most packages have a hardware cost around the 2.5k mark. Top up packages are more expensive than pure post paid, since sp's make less of top up.

When I got my desire (2 years ago) I paid in R2400 for the phone. The cost of the phone without the contract subsidy was 6k. So sounds right.

depending on which rom i ran, my n1 would have trackball alert (the trackball would flash different colours for different notifications). i liked it. but didn't notice it was gone for a long time when i started to run ics based roms.

it's a nice to have feature. for me hardly one that would swing a buying decision.

Agreed. I guess as long as there is some sort of notification led its fine. Its useful when you can look across the room and see whether you've had a missed call or text our something.

When i had the galaxy s, this was a pain. Custom rom solved it by activating the soft key backlight.

Ok, how do I apply online for a contract hehe... Might just grab this and cancel my vodacom contract if I can't get an answer from vodacom today :)

I'm sure you'll find that the fact that mtn advertised the phone first doesn't necessarily translate into being the first to have availability. Maybe wait a few days for the May price list.

Did anyone manage to get it through MTN yet?

True but I don't think Vodacom will beat this price. For my Note I paid R185 (business contract)) and another R200pm just for the phone. That was the cheapest option. But trying to find out. Will have to wait till around 9 when most of them open

Wonder if its worth getting a cover for the one s, micro arc oxidized back & gorilla glass screen

That mtn offer is ridiculously good. If there is no offer from Vodacom in the coming weeks, I will be porting my number.

Hopefully this deal runs for a month.

Waiting for Vodacom to get back to me but no news yet. A lot of them don't even know what phone it is :)

And I also think that is a good deal with MTN. No ways vodacom will beat it. I have one on hold at MTN Fourways :) There's 2 left if anyone wants it hehe

HTC pats itself on the back for the One X's battery life, has plenty of help

In reports consistent with our experience with the dual-core AT&T iteration, a blog post on the company's site notes several others that have tested it out and come away impressed with the battery life it shows. While our tests with the quad-core global version left something to be desired HTC says the One bests the old Sensation by as much as 147 percent when it comes to talk time, and 39 percent in video playback, while Anandtech had glowing recommendations for both versions.

can't believe MTN has this before Vodacom :( If only MTN didn't suck that much

Picked up the MTN specials pamphlet - this deal runs until May 17th. Dammit this is a good deal.

How is MTN wrt data services? Are the 3G/HSDPA speeds good? I've only had a work MTN BB and the phone calls seemed ok as none were dropped, but data was through BIS and not at all great.
