HTC One X

Went to VC kolonade, they never heard of a HTC one X before and her professional advice was "maybe they selling it overseas". Down the passage MTN is selling the phone and have stock. My upgrade is due next week and I think a move to MTN is on the cards.

Seen so many post likes this and know about even more people off this forum that are doing the same. I wonder how many customers Vodacom lost? I guess it's not really substantial so they won't bother much.

Well you just saved me the trip. I went into that store last week and said I would pop in again later this week. Guess not then...

How high did the phone drop from, and onto what surface?

I dropped my Desire a lot and the screen is still OK. I would be devestated if I dropped my One X and it broke :(

Dropped from waist high and landed flat on the screen on tiles. Was just a very unlucky drop, didn't bounce around on the tiles, just screen flat onto a flat surface. There was hardly a sound to it either it just landed flush on the tiles. Still waiting to hear if 1. It can be fixed and 2. how much moola it'll be.

I also dropped my Desire HD quite a bit on all sorts of surfaces, it eventually did get one crack but it's still working and being used daily by my eldest son.

If you don't mind, please can you upload photos of these items with your One X in them? And give a little info on your findings of them if you have the time. All I've found are product videos or sales images. Hearing it from someone who has one would be awesome!

Just received 1.29 update OTA, haven't noticed any real changes yet... Anyone know of an official changelog?

Anyway, I'm quite happy with how quickly we get updates compared to the release internationally, is this because of MTN or HTC (When on Vodacom, I don't think I ever received an OTA update for over a year, was still stuck on 2.1 until I finally decided to root)

Will try upload some tomorrow.

I installed the update at 54% battery life, when it came back on the battery life was at 65%. Found this in the xda forum:

The changelog states:

Improved power management
Enhanced HTC Car user experience for navigation voice prompts
Camera improvements for HDR mode and video snapshot
Improved incoming call alert speed
Added device volume control when in DLNA mode (HTC Media Link HD required)

Let's see how much better it is.

That update improved a lot of things I don't use haha, except power management of course. Also, I never noticed a problem with incoming call alerts... Hmm...

Hopefully the power management improvement means we'll get accurate battery readings from the OS. I noticed before that it would stay at a certain percentage for a very long time and then suddenly drop 4 or 5%.

.... :(
Sorry for your loss mate... I know the feeling...
It is an awesome phone... Please let us know what it cost to repair... Or what they quote you.... I might be able to help if you dont come right with them...

Finally got the quote. R2012.90, I actually thought it would be more. Waiting to hear how long it's going to take.

Thanks for the offer of assistance :)

Though you One X owners who are rooted might find this interesting. forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1652136

Interesting. No real improvement in battery life for day to day usage. Also users seem to report no real performance drop on 2 cores.
