HTC Touch Pro 2 (Fortress)

Hmm weird issue that... Did you HardSPL?
No. Never been HardSPL'ed. I've been using it with the 6.1 ROM it came with.

The only thing I did that could be seen as different was to remove the MicroSD card before flashing.

Hmm perhaps. Though, if anything, that should ensure the process goes smoother. I didn't remove my card during the flashing

I didn't remove the MicroSD card during my flash either. My rom is version is 1.86.201.0 (67102) WWE. I downloaded this straight off of HTC's European website. My phone comes from Europe, I imported it courtesy of Expansys.

Apart from the battery information bug, WinMO 6.5 runs nicely, but the memory usage seems quite a bit higher than 6.1.

Hmm mine is 1.87.421.0 (67729) WWE. AKAIK BeB is using the same ROM as me though

I've noticed that in Windows Mobile 6.5, HTC has killed the option to use Microsoft Transcriber as an input option, so no more writing or Block letter input either. When you press that little button in the middle of the screen, all you get is Phone Keypad, Compact Qwerty and Full Qwerty.

Not a big issue for me since I never really used it, but it was to play around with. Manually starting Transcriber doesn't work all that well.

A stupid question: Does WM 6.1 have a built in sound recorder? I have checked but cannot find it at all. Or does the TP 2 have it by way of HTC?

Please help.

Thanks

There is one, but it is very clunky to get into and use. You need to run the Notes application, and make sure that the recording toolbar is visible. From there you can record easily enough.

A stand alone app should have been included in WinMo I feel.

The RUU_TouchPro2.exe on the leaf site, does that include TouchFlo 3D 2.6? Or what. It is really bad that leaf dont specify what is included in the stupid rom update.

I don't know where to check for the version number of TF3D. It looks pretty much the same as the one I had in 6.1 but with the following changes:
  • Coloured Icons
  • Weather showing on front screen with the clock
  • Weather using your current location

For the life of me i cannot get this phone to sync with outlook via USB. I have tried a million things ... it is really really really frustrating. Feel like phoning someone at MS and making them hate me!!!!

Feel a little bit better now ... talking about it helps.

Question, what OS are you running? Have you installed ActiveSync on XP or Windows Mobile Device Center on Vista/7? As soon as I connect my phone, it syncs.

The only other thing I can think of is that under one of your settings somewhere, the phone isn't set to sync mail or contacts.

Windows 7, I have seriously searched the web high and low, many people have the same problem with many different solutions. It use to sync fine with my Vista machine ... but not with windows 7. I have emailed HTC, lets see what they say.

Asha'manX, what OS you using? If you using WMDC, which version are you using, 6 or 6.1?

Hey there

I am using Windows Vista Ultimate x64 with my phone, using WMDC 6.1.6965. I haven't had a chance to sync with Win 7 yet, but I am under the impression that when you connect the phone, Device Stage in Windows 7 should go and download what is needed off the internet to make the connection fully compatible.

Totally unrelated, but HTC have released a hot fix for the phone that lets you use handwriting recognition again when entering text, this includes Transcriber, Block Letter and Letter Recognizer. Guess there must have been some complaints about them removing it in WinMo 6.5...

If the russian HTC team twit is in anyway true... It means no WM7 for you guys.

Even if so, I am actually not that worried. 6.5 works well for me, despite the high memory usage. Despite being a network admin, I don't bother with tweaking my phone much, no real reason to. It just works and I am happy with that.
