HTC Touch Pro 2 (Fortress)

Hey guys. can any one please tell me the easiest and cheapest way to get either tom tom or garmin maps

Thanks. I googled a bit and found this link here:

http://www.everythingdiamond.info/showpost.php?p=5060&postcount=3

Not sure how this differs from the xda link - there are 2 TP options available - I installed the TP 2 CineVisionScope cab. It did however give me an error (on the 1st start) that my ffmpeg driver is not up to date. I followed the instructions and thereafter it worked just fine.

Is this a newer version?

Hmm not too sure about version numbers. I'm using the xda one which I can use GDI or Raw FrameBuffer for.
I'm inclined to think your link is a newer version since it was posted at the end of August (as apposed to xda which was last year)

what a few weeks its been.this phone never stops to amaze me.initially, i had some mixed feelings bout it.especially coming from an iphone.the screen is very responsive.not quite the same as the iphone's,but very close.the touch flow also makes some features easily accessible.and there is a customisable windows menu.the 16G micro sd is just a cherry on top.

guys, i need advise re.

google maps, are they loaded in the phone or are they downloaded from the internet every time one uses them.

i ve managed to load some few applications from xda forums.sometimes when i load an application, it gives me an error massage which says i should download a new version of .net compact framework. i downloaded it twice already but still gives me the same error message.some time the phone freezes for a whileafter that.one app that i recall that use to do that was tcmcp(previous version of core player).but i have removed it since. is there any one who has ever experienced this.

overall the phone is amazing.

it redefines customization (lol, well coming from iphone, you dig!)

not forgetting, this is being posted from the best keybord on a mobile phone

For the .Net CF, how are you installing it? I did it by downloading the file on my pc and installing it. My phone was hooked up in ActiveSync mode, and it installed that way.

On a different note, Windows Mobile 6.5 is nice. I'm using the official ROM released a few days ago. It's nice and stable, and seems quite fast. However, memory usage is definitely higher than 6.1 which is a bit annoying. I think HTC probably rushed this ROM a bit, it seems like they still need to a bit of fine tuning.

Concerning Google Maps, I think the data is downloaded as you move about. The delay when doing that or zooming in/out seems to indicate that to me.

Where did you download the ROM from. On htc.com when I type in my serial number I get a message that says the software is not suitable for my device. This is after selecting Europe. Selecting MEA does not even list the ROM.

I got it from a post here on the forums, someone linked to the HTC UK website I believe. My phone was imported from the UK, so perhaps that makes a difference of some sort, as I think the South African phone has a minute firmware difference so it may take a little longer to show up.

If all else fails, look around on XDA Developers, there is tons of info there.

Question: is there an application that will let me listen to music on my pc, using Upnp streaming? To clarify, I would like to use Windows Media Player on my Vista box to share out its libraries, and for my TP2 to play it over wi-fi.

I've looked all over, but can't seem to find a player that handles Upnp sharing, which is kind of odd. One would think that it would be built right into the phone.

WM6.5 ROM is available on the leaf website.
You need to register to download though (http://www.leaf.co.za/pages/club/public/Register.aspx)
The new ROM version is 1.87.421.0 and includes Manila Sense
I registered and downloaded a file called "RUU_TouchPro2.exe" on Monday but there was nothing on the support page or in the file that indicated to me what version of the ROM I downloaded so have not installed it yet.

:erm: It would have been nice of Leaf to display the ROM version on the Web Page or at least make it part of the file name.

Yeah I didn't know either... Only found out cos I emailed HTC and they said to download that one.

I have installed it and it runs well. It froze up a few times after the installation and I had to reset a few times but it seems ok now.
Loving the new lock screen :)

Thank you. I'll give it a go tomorrow.

Does your ROM have the annoying loss of power information bug? To check, charge your phone fully. Goto Settings, System, Power and check that there are details on the Information tab about last full charge etc...

After that, update your weather information using the HTC weather app. After that, can you check if you still have the power information?

Hmmm not sure, I haven't done a full since installing it. Will try it out and let you know, but so far I haven't had any issues

Hey, ok I've done a full charge & updated the weather. Everything seems fine and all the information is there.

I do find that it sometimes loses my data connection settings and I have to set it up again. I'm not sure it this is a Vodacom or ROM issue. It might just be that it can't connect to the network.
I also can't seem to access my data settings at all via the Manilla interface... Have to go into Settings -> Connections -> Connections. Everytime I go through the Manilla interface I get the Connection Setup wizard. Even I agree and run the setup, the phone reboots and when I go back, it brings up the wizard again :-\
