HTC Touch Pro 2 (Fortress)

Yup the WM interface has pretty much stayed the same since WM5... I hope this will change in 7 but you never know.
I quite like the TouchFlo3D interface and SPB Mobile Shell is quite good too
 
have any of you bought screen protectors for your phones yet? where to buy? i need one to get one or five for my poor little vulnerable screen
 
Search for Exim spuc on ebay - costs around R120-R200.

I have used them on my Canon 50D, Tytn II, Harmony Remote, Canon 450D and Nikon S510

Once on, you can't see there's a screen protector - and they don't seem to scratch (or not easily anyway).
 
I just got my TP 2 yesterday, and still finding my way around with it.

One thing I have noticed is that the in-call volume seems to be very low such that I sometimes battle to hear the other party.

Any one here has the same problem? Mines is from MTN.

1st. Congrats.

I'm a little hard of hearing and I've never had a problem with the volume being to low. Try adjusting the volume using the volume rocker buttons on the side while busy with a call.

i was a bit of a nokia fanboi before this (recent phones are e65 & n73) so i still have to get properly used to the UI but i'm getting there.

used the gps to get to work this morning (garmin xt) and it worked beautifully, now i just need to get a cradle and i can chuck my chunky nuvi away.

i loaded a custom windows mobile 6.5 rom (latest EnergyROM), it was nice and all but had way too many bugs for my liking so i reverted back to the stock rom.

programs that have made my phone a super-phone:
CorePlayer (brilliant media player)
FM Radio
Advanced Configuration Tool (tweak your phone exactly how you want it)
ChangeScreen (allows all screens to be rotate-able in any orientation)
Wifi internet sharing (turns your phone into a wireless router)

Is your radio working? I tried downloading the cab from XDA but I'm not hearing anything.
I thought it might have been my TomTom causing problems so did a hard reset to be safe and installed the radio cab but no joy...
Seems to find stations but I can't hear any sound

Just a little queasy about installing some of the customisations.

I have been reading this thread and have downloaded some of them including Advanced Config, Dashwire and Viigo - going to install now and see how goes it.

Just to reiterate if something does go awry - uninstall the app, then reload the rom?

You have some serious problems, yes, you can do a hard reset (Clear Storage). Some config tools can cause problems but seldomly do
 
Any idea if there are local sites to get core player? - i'm not comfortable using my card at an overseas one.
 
Well at long last, this Friday past I finally got my TP2. Long wait due to some problems with Expansys, nothing too major though.

I've spent a lot of time getting used to the device, still not fully up to speed yet. Coming from my Nokia N80, it feels miles away in terms of most things, but in certain areas the layout seems less logical and well thought out.

Unfortunately I got capped before I could spend more time downloading apps and learning how to tweak the phone, but I can live till next week. In the meantime I want to look into getting a decent screen protector/phone shield and pouch. I don't want the sweat from my hands to end up causing the paint on the back of the phone to wear off like it did on my N80.

Overall, it's a fantastic phone and I canot wait to go forward with it. I'm due to get a Nokia N97 on my cell upgrade in the next few days, and when I do, I'll be writing a comparison on my blog. The N97 is for my dad, but I'll play with it first for a few days :D

Congrats man! I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

I've had the opportunity to play around with an N97 as well recently, and I must admit, I was not impressed. Perhaps I'm just not a fan of Symbian... Seemed to me that you get the customizable home screen and the rest of the phone is pretty much as any other Nokia. This is just my opinion though, there are a lot of folks who love their N97's.

The new N900, however, running Linux's Maemo did make my heart skip a beat and for the first time since my 6170, I'm excited about a Nokia.

With regards to your screen protector, AFAIK Invisible Shield are the only shields that will cover the back of the phone as well as the front.
I have one and I'm very happy with it but be prepared to have a LOT of patience to install it. It took me about 15 minutes to get the back shield on but about 3 hours to get the front shield properly in place so I wouldn't have the common problem of bubbles between the screen and the chrome ridge.

With regards to applications, be sure to get yourself TCPMP for some added multimedia capabilities:

Need for Speed Undercover is also quite fun to play since it uses the G-Sensor to steer.

And Morphgear is a multi-emulator for SNES, SEGA, Gameboy etc
You will need K for Raphael to get the keyboard to work with it though.
