I see that Cell C are still offering them at R159 pm on contract. Not a bad deal at all.
Excellent deal! If I was due for a cancellation I'd consider getting this but then again, Cell C isn't great where I stay

Service provider is the end entity responsible, Huawei however have not pushed updates outside of Asia and Europe. Your provider cannot ota what it does not have.Do any of you know who is in charge of OTA updates for Huawei devices? Is it the service providers, or Hauwei South Africa themselves?
I've had my device for a year and a half, and I haven't received an OTA update once! Had I not downloaded the updates manually, I would still have been stuck on B107 that came with the phone.
Have any of you ever received any OTA updates since you've had the P6, or any other Huawei device?
Thank you for responding. I really hope Huawei does something about it, because while Europe is getting their bugs fixed, and getting OS updates, we're pretty much stuck in 2013.Service provider is the end entity responsible, Huawei however have not pushed updates outside of Asia and Europe. As much as I enjoy using EMUI, this is really a deterrent for me to bug another device, although I most likely will anyway, with the Ascend Mate 7 mini and P8 being announced soon.![]()
I'm fully aware of that. I'm currently using B708. The issue is the lack of OTA updates.You can do the update yourself. File downloadable from www.huaweinews.com if I recall correctly

Yes! I'm completely in love with EMUI 3.0! My only gripe with it is that the battery would keep discharging when it got to 20%, even with the charger plugged in, then shut down. I figured out a workaround though: just unplug, and plug the charger back in to the phone.I found a repacked rom for 708 last night on xda developers. It is in English and comes with Google Play store and the Chinese apps removed.
Are you happy with the 708 rom?

Not everyone has this problem though, but at least there's a way to avoid that now.![]()
Other than that issue, the phone seems faster, and it's just visually stunning! I love it!![]()
Yes, only when it's at 22%, you'll start noticing the battery draining by 2% every few seconds, so you have to plug in the charger, but it will keep draining, then just unplug, and plug it back in immediately, and that stabilises the charging.Nice. But it does not make the batter run down faster while not plugged in? In other words, shorter batter life? Just that if it is on 20% or lower you might have to plug in, plug out and plug back in again?
Will try and update mine tonight then

Not sure why it does this, but I noticed that on B510, the battery also discharges the same way, it just doesn't switch off, but starts charging normally when it reaches 0%.
It really is up to you, but I haven't found it necessary, to be honest.Just finished the update. The new interface looks so nice
Do you guys recommend a hard reset after doing the update?
It really is up to you, but I haven't found it necessary, to be honest.
If you do decide to do a hard reset, you'll lose your boot animation (it will just be the stock android logo), and you won't have the default theme set, although you can always set the theme afterwards.
I agree with you completely!I did it, and yes, my Vodacom boot animation is gone and replaced with the android one. Also, the stock Vodacom apps are gone now also, which is fine also as I dont use them.
I am LOVING the new interface. Phone feels so much nicer now. I think this is what the P6 should have been when it launched. I loved it from the beginning, but this is the ROM that turned it into the phone I think it should have been from the get go.
Which version are you using? The one that Ockie referred to on xda removes the Chinese apps.The new interface is nice, but there is a lot of Chinese gibberish, also when you go to the music store it keeps going to china music store.
Hopefully a full English version of this gets released soon.
ro.cofig.onlinemusic.enabled=false
ro.cofig.onlinevideo.enabled=false
I agree with you completely!

If you are rooted by any chance, you can turn online music (and video) off by editing your build.prop file.
Music player:
Code:ro.cofig.onlinemusic.enabled=false
Video player:
Code:ro.cofig.onlinevideo.enabled=false
Then just reboot your phone.
It is annoying that it keeps going to the online store when you launch the music player, so hopefully they'll change the behaviour of the music player doing that.
Yep, whatever tickles your fancy. I just prefer using the stock apps though, as I mostly just use it to watch videos I've taken with my phone.Or maybe just use a 3rd party one? VLC have a Android app not so?
