Huawei P6

Ive read online that the p6 has a problem with low earphones volume. Can someone with a p6 tell me if it really is that much of a problem, especially in noisy places like outdoors or in a gym.

absolutely not! The P6 music player's output into its supplied earphones is excellent and capable of damaging your ears.

Screenshot_2013-11-05-20-30-38.jpgI could not wait and loaded the B118 firmware. It did deliver some interesting results. The first benchmark that I ran delivered disappointing results: AnTuTu:9800 and Quadrant: 3560. Then I started to think: the two main issues with the P6 were Battery life and overheating and the only way to reduce these problems is to throttle and reduce the number of processors. but this would reduce performance.We had a very hot day in Bloem today so I switched on my aircon and placed the P6 inside the vents. After about 10 minutes I ran the test again and hit a top score in AnTuTu of 16300(second place globally for a P6 !) . So ja... the P6 with B118 firmware is capable of good performance but with a full battery and low temperature. I wonder if they will be offering small fan units to place your smartphone on.....for the serious gamers!

PS First place scored 20000+ but I think it has been rooted and overclocked.

Still don't have mine, bit disappointed in MTN due to waiting since forever here in the Helderberg... Anyway the XDA community is a buzz with P6 KitKat rolling out end January 2014 with UI 2.0, seems that they will skip 4.3.

As far as the rumour goes it seems like it but remember they plan to finish the Chinese version at the end of January so the English version should be out a month or two later. But I am sure that they would bring out at least one official international 4.2.2 version before then.

I gave the leaked B122 firmware a try and it looks stable. I Can't comment on the battery life but as far as performance goes it seems a bit down from the B118 and the best AnTuTu I could manage was 16022(this is with my usual aircon trick). I will try B119 tomorrow.Screenshot_2013-11-13-14-42-04.jpg

Apparently according to other sources I read, it will be a worldwide 4.4 release in January. Planned possibility to beat Samsung to it, although Samsung will roll it out over more than one device. LG as per the media is assumed to roll out during December.

So, I got my P6 on Friday, and I'm loving it! I was a bit worried that I might be disappointed by the performance, because the reviews weren't very good, but it's silky smooth! :D

I've already rooted, and removed the bloat, and even installed Miui for a bit, but reverted to stock, because it's so much smoother! The only complaints I have are:

The toggles in the notification bar don't open their respective apps when they're long-pressed;
the folders in the stock launcher, which I like, have a limit of 16 apps;
and the navigation bar doesn't have the menu button, and the back button is on the right, instead of the left, like my HTC desire S. If I could have the miui navbar on the stock rom, I'd be a happy chappy! :D

Other than that, I'm still getting used to holding the phone in my hand, because it's a lot bigger than my DS, lol! And I have tiny hands anyway. :p

I installed B122 btw, but should I rather install b118 instead? I don't have any problems so far, but if the battery life is better on b118, I'd much rather use that.

Thats the author's option but I'm not sure : statements like "get in the game unlock your gift boxes " lets me think it's more likely to be an activity by which you can get rewards, rewards that may already be inside your Huawei device.

Hi guys
I'm thinking about getting this phone. Now as per many reviews I've read, the performance seems lacklustre but as you guys have mentioned in the thread it has improved with the new firmwares. The other concern which I would like you guys to honestly comment on is the camera quality. I am currently using a Moto Razr, so if you have used one, it would be appreciated if you can use that as a reference point. Also, how complicated is the rooting process?

Thanks!

Those who want B125 Firmware:

Apparently the latest leak is quite exceptional in regard with the battery and speed.

4.4.x releasing end January, also seems that Emotion UI 2.0 will be more in line with stock Android, only with added Huawei applications and naturally an app drawer which is currently excluded in Emotion UI.

It is a comment made on numerous gathering on P6/P6S articles I read, here is a snip in a similar line on AndroidPIT?

http://www.androidpit.com/kitkat-update-for-ascend-p6

The KitKat update will also bring a new ''Project Svelte'' user interface to the P6, but full details of this change are not yet known. It will be interesting to see if Huawei introduces the Android app drawer and begins to make the P6 look more like Android following the update. Considering the heavy presence of Google in KitKat it seems likely that it will. In any case, the accelerated version update will only further enhance Huawei's attractiveness to a North American market.

In another article they suggested EmotionUI to move along with MIUI (on 4.4) which will only be available during February 2014.

This "leaked" video on EMUI 2.0 looks home baked:
