Nope, I never charge overnight.

Battery life is pretty crappy if that's all you got with the phone idling for that long ( 6% screen time = idling :P )

My old note 3 gets just over 4 days idling like that with wifi/gps/cell radio on. Note 4 slightly more.

..yeayea bigger battery in the notes, but still, less than 2 days idling for a 2600mha is low

Edit: heck even my old HTC One X got 3 days idling with an even smaller battery

Both running octa-cores, right?

Last i checked, the p8 runs a quad + quad .. same as note 4 ( exynos one i got )
note 3 is a quad and the one x a tegra 3 + low power companion core.

Your point about octa-core being ?

You're arguing a moot point. Might as well go for a heavy weight Nokia 5110 with your argument. You'll get 2 weeks with that.

As you already said, the notes have bigger batteries, and the htc doesn't have the octa-core.

Well technically, when these "octa-core" phones idle or dont need the horsepower, they shut down the one quad section. The kirin 930/935 uses the same big.Little setup as the exynos note 4, just that they use 2x cortex a53 setups instead of the note4's 57 + 53 for better battery life as the 57's use quite a bit more.

If the note 4 doesnt wake up the 57's for some arb reason then yea, the battery life should be similar if you adjust for the few extra mah

Note 3 snapdragon runs krait 400 cores which are based off cortex a15's wich has nearly the same power usage as the 53's, just less performance

The Tegra 3 is still cortex a9 which chows quite a bit more than the 53's .. the comp core is a cortex a9 under clocked too, which still uses more power than the a53's ( and technically it would have to wake up the quads to match the performance of the newer low power cores )

A glorified calculator on for a week or two or a smartphone with an extra 400-700mah that lasts an extra 2 days. Tells me that Huawei needs to learn quite a bit.

:D. Thank you. You obviously have a bone to pick with Huawei.

Run along with your "superior" devices :p.

As a complete package with octa-core (yes, yes we know it is 2 quad-cores), in a 6.4mm aluminium body, 3GB ram (note 4 has the same), a 2680mah battery, LTE, at a launch price of 8k, the P8 is excellent bang for your bucks.

The P8 lite seems to have become the most popular phone in SA @the mo. None of the networks have stock. Screenshot_2015-09-12-14-47-51.png

One problem I have noticed with p8 is that there is no way of limiting the frequency of what the cores run at.

On a Samsung the battery save mode limits the max cpu speed ,on the P8 it still goes to the max of 2ghz :(

I would really prefer the cpu going at a max of 1,5ghz and saving some more battery ,I don't need 2ghz A53 cores for whatsapp lol

I had note 3 with a customs kernel and I ran the cpu at 1.2ghz 24/7 ,really made a difference on how long the battery lasted.

Someone mentioned Game had it giving for R2800 and all sold out in Cape Town.

Yup... they sold out almost as quickly as the sale started. That is nationally not only in Cape Town.

I also see now that Telkom Mobile now has the p8 lite on contract and on smart plan 100, it looks like a great deal.

P8 lite on smart plan 100 at R229pm for 24 months.
150mb+1GB all network data
100 all network minutes
10 GB wifi access
Free Telkom Mobile to Telkom Mobile calls.

Found it in their latest in store catalog but the deal is not on their site yet.

There are apps that can do that, but root required.

I went to the Vodacom store today and played with the P8 and P8 lite.

Oddly, the P8 display was very jerky when changing pages. The P8 lite was much smoother, the display changed pages very smoothly, without any sign of "stuttering". Odd, but thats what the ones at the store displayed.

Have the P8 for over a month and have never experienced page lag at all.

Was it held my one of those claw grip things? Those can mess with touch detection. The Sony Z3 model at the local cellucity keeps activating it's edge-swipe gesture if there is one (like there is in the app drawer) because of how it's secured in the store.

So yesterday I bought the last P8 Lite our GAME had. The one they had left was white so I settled for it and my oh my I am impressed with this phone. I can do everything I did with my Note 3 and more all at a fraction of the cost.

You missed a beat there, Richard; should have ordered a container load and made a killing.

I won't ever go into the cellular business ever. They amount of trolls coming into the store asking stupid question - would actually die on the spot. Worked at a cellphone shop for a month couldn't tolerate customers asking the most stupid question ever. Like their phones displaying 112 they call thinking the operator can restore their mobile service. I had a few giggles.

Waiting until Edcon receive their stock which should be next week.

Guys, got my GF a P8 lite from Orange.

After a bit of drama (them sending the phone to JHB instead of CPT) I eventually have the phone.

I took her working simcard that has been working flawlessly in my tablet out and put in in the P8 lite. Fork all happens.I go to settings, dual sim card management and try and 'activate' the sim card and it just says failed to activate sim card or it enables it and then 10 sec later get "no service" and cant make any calls etc.

Seems like I received a dud?
