Huge A*ce Root in my backyard

I dont think it will be that easy to kill with access to just one root. I am sure it has sent roots in all directions. I am no expert but it would take months of poison dosing to kill such a huge tree, and I dont even know which poison to use.
The garlon 4 suggested is actually a growth hormone which causes abrupt cancer like growth in the tree which kills it. From what I read it works quickly on small shrubs and big trees that have been cut, not a fully alive big tree.
 
This thing has grown like crazy, now I am wondering where it is heading.

U can see where it has found a way into the house too

Looks like it hasn’t really messed with the foundation of the house. You could have got it just in time.
What tree does your neighbour have that could have a root system like that?!

My immediate neighbor has no trees. The neighbor diagonal to me has 3 trees, I dont know which trees are those.
But this root is coming from my immediate neighbors yard, from under the boundary wall, so I am thinking of informing them.

You should send those pics to Kirstenbosch.

I have NEVER seen such a long, straight root EVER and usually the canopy and roots follow a similar pattern - you know - as above so below.

EDIT: Apparently this isn't true and roots can reach much further than the canopy. "Arborists typically use trunk diameter to determine a root protection zone during development. A common guideline recommends a tree protection zone with a radius of one foot for every one inch of trunk diameter – a 12 to 1 ratio. It’s important to stress that this is just a guideline."

use an axe to chop it both sides. If you use a chainsaw, the moment that chain eat some soil, blade is gone.

It's not making sense to me either. But it checks all the boxes for a root, it has branches coming out, it has probes like thing that has come out and got into crevices.
 
Some here made fun of the name, I think the name is fitting, that’s a Huge A*ce Root!!
 
Update : Dug up a few more feet, this thing looks like has no end.

What's the best power tool I can use to cut this? Its soft and filed with sap, my drill was getting stuck when I tried to drill holes.

Yeah chainsaw is a no go for cutting down in the dirt.
Hire companies are not going to be replacing the blade for you every 10min.

I would use a recip saw. Can also hire them
