Update : Dug up a few more feet, this thing looks like has no end.

What's the best power tool I can use to cut this? Its soft and filed with sap, my drill was getting stuck when I tried to drill holes.

This is muti, there are people that believe in this stuff now I see why lol.
That root took a 90 degree turn!
How long ago was the pool built or was the house built with the pool?
If it took less than 5 years to grow like that, it’s muti.

But ye get an expert opinion from a garden centre or botanist.

I just moved here, I have plans which is from 2005 and it says "Existing pool". So I am assuming its there for a long time.

Phone any nursery that sells fully grown trees. They’ll know.

Dude that shiz was planted there to troll you this can't be real. Just cut it with a small hand saw, it will take max a couple minutes to cut it in like 3-4 places and pull sections out.

even just put your spade on it, and smack the two edges with a hammer, if it is so soft it should just cut right through it

its filled with SAP and the inside is husky like a coconut, difficult to cut through. I tried to drill through but it got stuck in the fibers halfway through.

Yes, I have never seen a root that looks like a pipe, consistently round over meters in length.

We had a fig tree which we chopped down. Suddenly new fig trees started growing on the opposite sides of the garden. I can confirm their root system will do crazy things.
