Huge A*ce Root in my backyard

I have a similar issue - Brazilian pepper tree.
It's coming over from my neighbours ERF about 3-4m from the wall on the left.
I just pulled up what I had the power to do - cut it off with a pair of big loppers and buried it.
I'm planning on paving shortly, at which point I'll dig it all up properly and cut it off.
PLEASE whatever you do , don't use RoundUp or **** like that - there's quite a few court cases going around that link it to cancer and all sorts of health problems.

There is no way a root grows that straight and takes a 90 degree bend. Someone is trolling you.
from what I saw when I googled "fig tree" the leaf structure seems different to the tree in my neighbors yard. I will post some pictures in the morningGot curious and tried to google what could it be...
Found this site listing local problematic trees, you might try to ask them in the comments

I don't know sht about trees, my limited googling came up with figs and rubber trees , which seems to be from the same family - ficus

The presence of that huge arse root blocking off your entire lower wall is sapping your WiFi signals, so you are about to kill two birds with one stone if you succeed.Update : Dug up a few more feet, this thing looks like has no end.
What's the best power tool I can use to cut this? Its soft and filed with sap, my drill was getting stuck when I tried to drill holes.

was about to say - looks like a pepper tree. I had a massive one and the roots did some weird stuff. I would get weeds popping up in the lawn and when I tried to pull them out it would pull up a massive root as thick as my finger, was hard to cut and just went on forever. It would still happen even after we cut the big tree down.

A case of mayhem, murder and mistaken identity.
It's cloudy and occasionally raining in capetown since the last 3 days. So I stopped the digging for how, the trench got filed with water and some of the sand seeped back.
Waiting for the weather to clear then will start again.

It was obviously a root from the beginning, unless one is totally unfamiliar with roots.
