I Cannot Defend Cool Ideas Anymore.

Boy am I glad I'm on Vumatel then. Let's just hope their aerial lines just don't get removed any time soon.

I actually spoke to the body corporate to see if another provider like Vumatel can come in. They said no. They don't want to go through the hell of having people dig up everywhere again :(

Yeah sadly them pensioners are adverse to said hell, although I would imagine it being straightforward to splice the existing sections in the complex, to Vumatel, at the nearest street facing box.

We have had to escalate as far as the CEO in almost of our tickets with TTConnect and we get zero feedback or resolution, can you PM me your account name?

You guys should cut ties with TTConnect. This is not fair on your customers. Teach them a lesson.

We then have to dump all our customers which isn't what we want to do either...

You're screwed either way :-/ but I think your customers would respect you more if you are upfront about why you cut them, rather than them paying for a service that breaks down all the time with poor customer service.

Didn't the body corp think to put in a clause that allowed other ISP's to use the trunking laid down during installation?

I think legally trunking belongs to the property owners either way.

Problem is that the infrastructure that exists in the complex was paid to install by TTConnect, so they own it. I'm assuming Vumatel would need to buy the lines from them before they allow splicing to their network.

There was a legal case about this Telkom VS Vodacom: https://www.timeslive.co.za/news/south-africa/2017-07-27-telkom-win-landmark-case/

In our block a provider said that other providers cannot use their trunking. So far they have the most favorable prices so we aren't taking it further but should the day come, they'll get a call to come get their stuff.

Won't take more than a day or two to install completely new trunking and at that point they will be excluded.

Kind of short sighted in the long run

Unfortunately yes. In my complex (Aloe Place 1) TT Connect are the only fibre providers. Telkom are apperently there for ADSL, but I really don't want to go back to Telkom.

I doubt your issue will get resolved in the near future and your only other option is up to 40Mbs Telkom VDSL.

Bottom line, you're fscked.

I dont understand how people recommend LTE when these things happen.
How can you even compare costs? Especially if you download??

I guess people are recommending it based on comparative speeds.

But yeah its no alternative if you are a downloader, heavy streamer or gamer.

The max I can get is 4mbps on ADSL and that will cost the same amount as my 20/20 package as well!
