I got my iPhone ala Eddie Murphy

I got my I-Phone!

You didn't get none
You didn't get none

Cos your father is a alca-ho-lic

You didn't get none
You didn't get none

And your family's on the wel-fare

You didn't get none
You didn't get none

:D

Great - now get it :
1) jailbroken
2) infected with a virus
3) replaced with something that does not have a fruity name.

dont worry about jailbreaking... just visit

http://www.itunesgiftcardstore.com/

buy yourself a iTunes gift card (they deliver the pin direct to your inbox), and create a US iTunes account - gives you way better access than the SA store, plus you get full access to iTunes to purchase music.

Makes owning an iPhone way better than just the limited SA one.

Jealousy is such a sad thing when seen on GROWN men :p
I think you misread our emotions - we are in a different market segment all together. The iPhone is a fashionphone made for people that needs a phone to be fashionable and carry a name that will make them look cool.

What I am interested in is a great alround device - like something from the N-Series range.

:D I thought you where kidding the first time. Actually its the hardware here that has me. The functionality that the iphone has is unrivaled. Be honest, the iphone pioneered so many new functions in the mobile phone market that the rest are just following now.

...and I was just pulling your leg  :D

Ow my leg!

How many virii are we talking here Rouxenator?

Just cos someone wants a business phone/entertainment phone doesn't mean they're fashion concious... I've yet to come across another phone that mixes those 2 aspects as well as the iPhone.

It sure does the fashion part right - but business?

No, that is something it does not do that great at. It can't multitask, it is not usable as a modem - even for imagining it sucks pretty badly. All of which can be over come by getting proper devices for each of these functions - but that leaves the iPhone pretty much just that (a Phone).

Mine multitasks quite well thank you very much. It retrieves my mail and synchs up to outlook just perfectly, while I'm doing other things...
It works as a modem just fine thank you very much

Imagining? (I'm assuming you mean imaging).. The camera is not great, but thats why I have a decent camera.

It can multitask.
It can be used as a modem - it's called tethering and Vodacom has supported it for a while now.

BTW - Virii is not the plural of virus.

funniest statement ever mate. :D

try one for 6 months then come back to comment.

if your not too proud to admit your dead wrong that is..

But just to give you a heads up;

My N95 8gb and 5800xm have crashed so many times it can almost be called a feature. A sort of cache clearing if you will.
Calls drop.
Reception wavers.
And heaven forbid you try to open more than 2 things at the same time..
The cameras however are rock solid.

Iphone on the other hand has never dropped a call, never crashed during normal use, doesnt lose reception.
And with backgrounder and kirikae you can multitask till all you ram is finished.
Which, depending on the apps you've got open can be quite a bit.
On an iphone 3gs you can conceivably keep 5 to 8 apps open at the same time.
Push notifications make getting email exactly like a blackberry.
The web browser is unparalelled. (opera mini is cheaper but cant hold candles to safari mobile ITO fluidity and ease of use)

What about special features you say?
Hmm, I have a little app installed called air video, and a small server program on my pc.
I can stream all of my shows, movies etc to my phone via wifi with perfect sound and quality.
No conversion etc.
Just pure instant media streaming.
Which looks great on the 3.5inch screen.
I now watch something in bed till i fall asleep.
What about turning off the pc?
Jaadu VNC lets me login to my pc via wifi ala remote desktop.
I can view and control my pc from my phone!!!
Which means I can then shut down the pc as well, or if i've got a download running, I can check the progress.
Have you seen the facebook app?
Have you seen the news24 app?
Have you played Realracing Gti 2010?
What about Fifa10?
Goodreader is large pdf reader, I have 250mb pdfs that load and view flawlessly. (that stupid adobe app on my n95 could barely open an 8mb pdf and even then it stuffed up all the formatting)

Hmm.. So for the tradeoff of a better camera, there seems to be alot more useful stuff here hey..

The only negative? It will chew through data like a meat grinder does meat if your not careful.

This isn't the phone's fault though.
It's the cellphone networks for ripping us off for 3g data.
Any decent international iphone package has unlimited data....

In any event, try one for a while - really try one, get over the learning curve, jailbreak, install alot of apps, fool around with cydia etc, then comment away.

Even if you do manage to live a dream with the iPhone, could just be that you're easily impressed, you are still using an apple product. In the past I have wrote lengthy posts about why intel is evil with its desires to monopolize.

Don't get me started on apple.

Write one about Nokia's crap phones that keep crashing, their buggy software, features that don't actually work etc etc.

All the features on Nokia phones work and, unlike some companies, they have range of OSes deployed to various phones in different segments of the market. From basic Series30 call/sms only phones to advanced touch devices running Maemo. Thus taking a shotgun approach and saying their phones crash and suck just won't work plus brand/quality studies will prove you wrong.

Don't get me wrong - the iPhone was revolutionary and it is an extremely capabile fashionphone. It is just sad that people over hype it to be something more than that.

its alot more than a fashion phone Rouxenator (as much as you don't want to even begin to accept)

Its a VERY capable business phone.... which can double as an awesome entertainment device...
