What about special features you say?
Hmm, I have a little app installed called air video, and a small server program on my pc.
I can stream all of my shows, movies etc to my phone via wifi with perfect sound and quality.
No conversion etc.
Just pure instant media streaming.
Which looks great on the 3.5inch screen.
I now watch something in bed till i fall asleep.
Awesome - thank you for that recommendation!

All the features on Nokia phones work and, unlike some companies, they have range of OSes deployed to various phones in different segments of the market. From basic Series30 call/sms only phones to advanced touch devices running Maemo. Thus taking a shotgun approach and saying their phones crash and suck just won't work plus brand/quality studies will prove you wrong.

Don't get me wrong - the iPhone was revolutionary and it is an extremely capabile fashionphone. It is just sad that people over hype it to be something more than that.

So basically if you want one, you have to look through a few 100 different Nokia models, read reviews, etc to try and figure out which one suits you, and hope that it works, because you'll be stuck with it.

Whereas you can just get an iPhone which does more than alll the nokias combined, and keeps getting new features added to it for free.
Oh yes, then there's the app store...

Even if you do manage to live a dream with the iPhone, could just be that you're easily impressed, you are still using an apple product. In the past I have wrote lengthy posts about why intel is evil with its desires to monopolize.

Don't get me started on apple.

Oh so it's Apple you hate then?
I never did understand why people personify companies and apply such stong human emotions to them.
Apple is a company mate.
Regular people work there.
They try to earn a living.
They have shareholders.
Those shareholders demand results.
Hence their attempts to increase profit.
Sure, some corporate desicions they take hurt consumers.
And yes, a monopoly helps no one.
But consider this;
This is not a race, and there is no finish line.
One company may monopolise a paticular product, but this always breeds innovation and competition from competitors.
Look at the playstation brand.
Look at the walkman.
Look at many other great products of yesteryear.
Look at the old Nokia

If apple starts making crap phones we consumers will just vote with our wallets.....

I think you misread our emotions - we are in a different market segment all together. The iPhone is a fashionphone made for people that needs a phone to be fashionable and carry a name that will make them look cool.

Strange that you say that because after using various smartphones the iPhone seems to win hands down purely because it performs all round.

if it does lack certain features... I am not aware of them yet.

Write one about Nokia's crap phones that keep crashing, their buggy software, features that don't actually work etc etc.

Ahh finally one who sees the bigger picture, its like having a R10 000 phone jam packed with features on a cheap processor, its not worth it, nokia's proud to say mean **** to me. iv got a N95 8GB black

1. Voice is degrading over a call
2. Phone Locks up every Now And then
3. Phone Reboots
4. Camera Wont Work
5. 8gb on board memory is broken so iv got the standard memory
6. Applications for the phone are ****
7. Try open more than 3 programs and u tell me what u notice....

As you can see iv looked up and not only is the iphone a fashion statment that WORKS!!! its a freaking dream for tech junkies, its go features and the hardware to complement it, its a awesome phone period, and iphone applications are still on the rise, you have yet to see what the iphone holds behind that beautiful touchscreen

Yip, no offense Rouxenator, but you need to do your research before posting lies up here about an iPhone. Like they say - the ppl who don't have them are jealous and thus try break it down. As I ALWAYS say - just look at the sales figures!!! The best selling phone in the world for the past 3 years - and it's VERY expensive - I don't think so many ppl (about 50 million if I'm not mistaken) would spend so much money on an iPhone if it wasn't as great as what Apple makes it out to be. Apple must definitely be doing something right if soooooo many ppl are buying it :)

As with everything in life you will find that it fits perfectly in the statistical phenomenon called the bell curve. Its a simple law that naturally occurs when you look at things from a statistical point of view.

Now, speaking of norms, on the IQ bell curve I feel my self sitting on the far right of 50 million ;)

I'll be honest here. iPhone is my favourite and BlackBerry next (I have both).
Then, I also like the newer Android phones (Nexus One / Motorola Milestone) and of course the Palm Pre :)

Seems to be something that pops up quite a lot really. Instead of focusing on massive holes in the spec sheet they hop to "apps count". As if to say I might be a zergling but they hatch two of us per egg and we have a millions more back on the creep.

So tell me Mr app counter - how many of the 200k apps does the average one-in-50-million-user install on his iphone? 20 maybe? 200 perhaps? Do they even break the 1% barrier? You know, stats really was one of my favorite subjects and this is bringing back such fond memories.
I once had to write a paper on this bizarre concept of quantity VS quality - now seriously, who wants to argue with that - it must be a bunch of haters and trolls right ?

Well the thing is, iPhone apps are higher quality too! They work on all iPhones & iPod touches, something which Android can only dream of. They have access to better 3D API's and graphics, so the games look a lot better. But the clincher is the standard of UI design of Apps is very high. This is due to the high competition in the App store and the Apple/Mac design aesthetic. As an example Android has no twitter client even close to the level of sophistication and brilliance of Tweetie. This is true of most apps.

That a massive misconception. 3 models in what 5 years?? If they were so poorly specced they would be replacing their defunct and redundant products on a regular basis much like Nokia do...
