I hate telkom SO MUCH!!!!

Bleep's issue will be resolved late October when the IMAX is commissioned in his exchange!

Incomprehensible

Weellll
Some of you peeps are VERY patient.
IF at first you do not succeed -- make a FORMAL appointment to see your area manager.
Take your lawyer with if you will -- or perhaps your local ANC councillor.
DO NOT TAKE THIS KIND OF SHYTE.

For those with NO hope

TRY ISDN -- can get 128Kbps and a longer distance from the exchange
ALSO
Works on the standard copper -- NO DSLAM or either shyte.
OK -- you have to pay for calls -- try Infincall or one of the CLOSER plans
YOU do still get ISDN routers / WICS

It is a STOPGAP -- till something better happens.

But is ISDN a gaming option and isn't it ridiculously expensive? Yes I am sure the ANC want to come with me and sort out my problems :/ I am going to take the road most traveled, namely Sigh and give up!

Quitting

Quitters never win
Winners never quit

And so wars are fought by people who want peaceful lives :D

So, Telkom have made a provisional appointment to install/replace the stolen poles to my premises, so I can get a line.

Get this though... once the poles are up, the Tech already being RIGHT THERE... I still have to wait ANOTHER week to get the actual line installed.

Say whut?! If anything you will be saving fuel and other costs by just doing it all in one shot! Ya?

Different trained staff... first lot are cable installers and/or cable jointers - they do not install into your premises.

Next lot to arrive will install the drop-wire to the jack inside your house - they are fitters/faultsmen.

Different training and skills required.

Ok, now I'm starting to see a VERY serious problem.

First... theyre coming on Friday to PLANT NEW POLES... them upright wooden things sticking out the ground.
So what youre saying is that the week after this, THEN some cable-installers/jointers will show up.
And THEN the week after that the fitters/faultsmen?!

2-3 MORE weeks?!

... someone better come pick me up and cuff me to something, coz someone is bound to get seriously injured in this process...

Would they be what we used to call wire-pullers? Or could you apply that to most Telkom staff?

I recently applied for telkom to activate adsl on my landline. However they now tell me they can't because there aren't any more lines available!!! You'd think with slipping adsl customer numbers they would do some upgrades, so that the few people who still actually wants to do business with them, CAN DO IT!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

*calls the waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaambulance*

This is now reaching levels of fail that I cannot find words to describe.

They installed the poles. 2 of em. Guess how far I am from the "box" (which I understand to be the exchange? whatever).
2 Poles away.
Thats right folks.
I can stand in the backyard and if I were to aim properly, I could hit the dang thing with a stone. ie: About 50 meters.

Me = blue; Telkom = red.
"I noticed that the poles have been put up, when can I expect the next stage to be completed?"

"Sorry, we are having problems with the cabling".

"urrr... what problems? Could you be more specific?"

"The technician said that there is a problem running the cable from the box to the poles"

"Uhm, yeah, I got that. What problem?"

"He put in his report that the distance is too far"

o.O ... uhhhh... WTF?!?!?!?!

I ordered a 4096k line and only got 512k, why? oh, your area is only zoned for 512. HUH? I don't live in Pandokiesfontein. I'm in Joburg, next to Sandton.

I think we should all sit down and calmly cry together, and then give up and get depressed and take up drinking, and then sue Telkom :D Oh, wait this isn't America...sigh :/

Sorry guys but I finally got my adsl today! :D Syncing at 10mbs.

After two and a half months of waiting today feels like I've won the lotto. :D May all of you get dsl soon too!

Congrats Solitude.

My story has come to (yet another) standstill.
Since Telkom last reported having sent a Technician with less cabling than I personally have in my closet, nothing further has happened.
10219 doesn't know, as no further activity has been recorded on my order.
The local Nelspruit offices tell a different story every day.

Looks like I'm gonna have to wait for this sore throat to go away... seems that it has become that time again, where somebody needs to be screamed at - Until their head explodes and they cave in again to 50% of my demands.

Grats Sol!

I hope ill be in the same bout too soon.

@Wheunis, Yep same thing here, got no activity, bunch of different responses and no progress whatsoever. Just have to phone and phone until they decide to do something about it (Hopefully).

@ Solitude Dude you are so lucky! Geez I'm jealous!
@ wheunis I feel your pain geez this is such a hassle!
@ Runeblade I thought perhaps the phoning thing will help, but since you speak to a different person everytime I think it just gets lost somewhere, you are going to have to demand to speak to a manager or something and then speak to that person everytime until he is so fed up he gives in to you :D
