ICASA fights back on network quality report criticism

It helps to get all the facts before you write an article.
So who is in the wrong here........
We will respond to ICASA's statement. We are just waiting for them to provide feedback and clarity on some of their claims.

Also: we asked them for feedback before our initial article, but they simply did not respond. Not much we can do about it if they do not want to answer questions...

IMO MyBB can take constructive criticism much better than ICASA can. Is that a biased opinion? Maybe. Is that my opinion? Definitely. MyBB surely has done a lot more than ICASA toward the advancement of broadband in SA. That's a definite fact! :D

Looking forwrd to reading your response and pointing out their errors

Well if it turns out to be MyBB then it would appear to be the evil "Staff Writer" :-p
It would be nice to know why some articles are published anonomously and some under a name. Is "Staff Writer" a bot?

Cell C does struggle a bit in Worcester, so I can understand that influenced the data. MTN and vodacom are quite good there.

Was the route from the CBD to the airport to Somerset to Stellenbosch to Worcester?

Because the drive from the CBD to the airport will affect more people than the drive from Stellenbosch to Worcester. Did they do more calls on the busier routes than on the less busy routes? I think they did a set amount on each route and that is why it is looking so bad.

RPM, correct me if I'm wrong:

ICASA release:
The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (Icasa) released a correction to its Western Cape Quality of Service Report on 3 June 2014, but it did not contain the full extent of the faulty information.

MyBB article:
What Icasa is hiding about network quality.
Staff Writer June 4, 2014

So, assuming these are the two pieces of writing up to discussion:
ICASA report: 3rd June
myBB article: 4th June
Staff write must have researched, compiled and approved article. Notified ICASA for official comment all within 24hrs?

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Clearly the staff writer had to read the ICASA report, then had to compile and verify his own article/data and be approved. Lets say that all happens on the 3rd. How long did you wait for ICASA to respond before publishing the article? Less than 12 hrs? How many business hours did you wait?

If these dates are correct, I think you've been unfair towards ICASA.

I was really looking towards being corrected or have made a mistake here. I'm taking it that myBB is in the wrong here not allowing sufficient time for icasa to reply.
