ICASA makes ADSL pricing decision

They should stop with the cross-subsidisation bullsh*t. Why should *I* pay for the losses on Closer???

J
I don't think they are losing money on it. Everyone I know who has sucscribed to Closer thinks its lekker 1000 minutes to ANY number. I mean, look how the people in the Closer commercial hug eachother - Telkom makes everything so perfect, their lives seem so complete.
Only after receiving a massive bill a month later, thanks to all those cell numbers not covered by that lekker 1000 minutes, do they unsubscribe. Regardless, Telkom makes lekker R300 plus whatever the poor user wate on cell numbers.

They don't know wtf is going on Debbie, they just send me from one department to the next. lol, she just told me that the woman who does ADSL is out on lunch.

She said to phone back after 2pm, at (011) 321 8275

uhm .. on the closer thing its supprising good [except the cellphone thing] but we use the phone more now than ever before esp national calls which we did not do so often. Cell calls are darn expensive due to the interconnect charge which icasa must still regulate one day after all companies have ripped us off :(

So i came home early and thought hey :) regulation time but still nothing and then this phone log on a post above link :( #@%#@ sad thing is the draging it out and i just know its gonna be another crap talk fest with no real price reliefs another day in africa i guess?

If the gov depts can give such bad delays on deadlines they give and announce maybe they should change the date of the world cup to '2010 ish'

Thanks a lot for trying mooK. We need more people like you willing to do small things like this, because it all adds pressure pressure pressure.

AntiThesis went through about 4 people before he got through to someone relevent. The 'woman who does ADSL' is Mohlala, and she shouldn't even be at ICASA since her job there ended more than a week ago. /sigh

I just called and in the end landed up at an answering machine. Ok, someone else's turn to call next. Why? Pressure! We have to let ICASA know how important and aggressive consumers are on the issue. Even if it makes no difference with the current regulations, keep in mind that ICASA will likely soon be making regulations on SAT3/bandwidth.

Your call will not be useless. For example, ADSL hearings would never have come about were it not for public pressure. So give them a ring on (011) 321 8200.

Surely someone at ITweb might have some insight?
Their site seems to be taking a beating.[quote[Not enough storage is available to complete this operation[/quote]

I just tried (011) 321 8275, and the woman I spoke to tried to get a hold of one of the committee members, but "couldn't". But she did say that as far as she knew, they hadn't been announced yet because they haven't finalised the regulations yet.

Miss Mohlala's office is now manned by an answering machine. Is she busy with the press release or has she just decided to dodge the phone calls...
