Hi all.

Not sure if this should be in Gaming, Android or here, but this seemed best.

Long time lurker here thought I would share my first dabble in Android app/game making for you all.

Idle Observatory
(Idle Obs)

The idle game where discovering the secrets of the universe pays!

It's a free Idle game in open beta so anyone can get it on the Google Play Store here:

I still have lots to do before full release but it is functional enough for you to try it out/try and break it

Any feedback is appreciated. Don't hold back.

Thank you

Very very alternative game. Instead of an age restriction it looks like you went with an IQ restriction. Very cool though, I always like these different genre's.

Points for effort.
Doesn't appeal to me though.
Clicking everywhere seems to be the point of the game?
I think you need to weigh what you are trying to make fun, enjoyable and unique?
Right now it doesn't have any purpose IMHO.

Hope you accept my constructive criticism.

Haha. That wasn't my plan. I just made something I liked and if others liked it too then that would be a bonus.
Thank you for the kind words.

I accept all feedback :)
The clicking/tapping is there to help, but it's not the whole point.
I do still have some 'endgame' aspects to add in but yes there is a ceiling that you'll hit although it takes a couple of days before you do. That's why I chose to have it open beta to get feedback, like this, while things are still changing.
Thank you for the feedback, for taking the time to reply.

I have a client who is absolutely crazy about photography of the stars and all sorts. Bought that star tracker camera mount thingy that takes the picture over 5 overs tracking the star. Then edits it in Photoshop and that java app which cleans noise etc, etc. Point is as foreign as it is to me there are those that are deep into star gazing and the sorts.

The teamwork and reward idea is a good one understanding the character and thinking of these people. I dont know however how much time it would consume.

That's cool. People are able to capture quite amazing images.

@TheEntity

excuse the quick and dirty
No problem. Thanks for the suggestion. I appreciate it.
I would like to try and keep the top area as open as possible because there are plans for many other things to appear and happen in that space so I'm not so sure about spreading out the multiplier button. That's even why those top and bottom bars are somewhat transparent so they don't cut the image off.
But on that note, I do like how you shrunk the sky objects display onto one line like that. I would just worry about it being displayed on small screen devices as things tend to overlap if they stacked horizontally. I'd have to try it out to test.

But thank you for the suggestion. I also like your perfect 50 Binoculars giving a solid 5000/s.

Numbers.....mmmm.... :)

So just a quick update.

Progress is still going strong on development. I am adding in things that are dependent on other things, so a lot is getting tweaked in the process. I am trying to add in endgame aspects which are totally new so that's taking a while, and because of the new additions, namely in the Upgrades menu, I am redesigning the layout of some menus. I'm currently busy about 4 hours a day pushing to about 6 hours a day on the weekend so everything is still very active.

Getting the endgame in and ironed out, as well as getting a few backend tweaks done, will move the app closer to actually being released, which is exciting. Just know that even after release I will keep adding things, namely things like more objects on the main screen, real world space occurrences, and also a collab of some sort if I can figure that out.

I also have ideas for 3 or 4 other games in the future but they are fully still in the idea phase. I'm not even sure if the one will even work. I've been putting all my energy in Idle Obs. And they are going to be totally different idlers, not just a reskin. The one might not even be an idler! *gasp*

So keep finding those sky objects and post your progress screenshots, I really enjoy seeing how everyone is doing. Some players' progress screenshots actually helped me figure out the final piece of how I could implement the endgame mechanics. I was stuck just asking the question "How?"

Thank you as always. Have a great day.

Ps. I must start posting my own progress screenshots also.
