So I was driving along on a stretch of road with a speed limit of 100km/h.

I was driving at 95km/h. I always ... I mean, always, obey the speed limit. I always drive conscientiously and is always polite and courteous to all road-goers and at a four way stop. Driving is a relaxing and safe pleasure to me.

The stretch of road is only a couple of kilometres long and quiet ... very quiet.

The suddenly a traffic official car's sirens went on behind me and pulled me over.

For you sir ... R500 ... you were not wearing your seat belt. I'm like ... What?!?!?!??

He literally drove up to me and checked me out.

His next words were ... "Be grateful, if you drove over a stop sign, it's R3000".

R500 is a lot of money to me. :(

EDIT: And by the way ... I drive this road twice a week the whole year ... why now 3 days before Christmas???

I received my first speeding fine ever, about month back. I know I wasn't driving it but I can't prove it. I have a company car that gets used for test drives etc and I didn't keep a proper log of when someone took my car or when it was leant to a customer.

It was "only" R200 and my fault for not keeping the correct info but it still feels like pissing money away.

I feel your pain bro.

You ALWAYS obey the speed limit? :wtf:
...you need some excitement in your life.

Buckle up.

/me runs!

Last time I had a seat belt fine was about 15 years ago fine was r200, goto trafic dept tell them you really sorry, they can give you a discount

Seems par for the course...my mom got fined R500 for seat-belt many years back. So if anything it should be more.

Also...this is one of the few fines I support...people travelling without seat-belts...nail them...its an unnecessary risk & kills SA road safety stats.

Bonus video...person flying very aerodynamically thanks to lack of seatbelt

This makes no sense.

Or at least it makes as much sense as allowing people to race on Kayalami at whatever speeds the desire.

The little bit of road I travelled on without a seatbelt was just a bit of financial opportunism by the traffic official.

Whatever rule-breaker!!!

It will probably make more sense, once you badly injure yourself. This was my sister's car in a low speed accident against a lamp post. She hurt her neck pretty badly.

Obviously no seatbelt...
