I'm dismayed. I received a ticket today.

OP is a teacher. Just saying.

Life orientation? :D:D:D

PS OP in another timeline a dog could have crossed the road, you swerved and hit something and died. Think about that, the cop did you a favor.

Why do you make a point to state that you drive below the speed limit but then you don't wear a safety belt?

Also Kyalami and other race tracks are designed to minimalise injury and guess what... You have to wear a safety belt on track.

Pay the fine and learn from it. Curiously why don't you wear a safety belt at all times?

I started driving when most cars lacked seat belts but buckling up is now such an ingrained habit I find myself doing it just to reverse the car out of the garage.

I know the fine stings but look on it as a life lesson and move on.

This makes no sense.

Or at least it makes as much sense as allowing people to race on Kayalami at whatever speeds the desire.

The little bit of road I travelled on without a seatbelt was just a bit of financial opportunism by the traffic official.
Lol you are not allowed onto the track without safety belt and helmet, btw.

:D very funny thread , thanks for the chuckle so early in the morning .
My car wont shut up(seat belt alarm) unless i have the seat belt on so i put it on in surrender .

You should have known that you would be reprimanded and called stupid by the MyBB high-horse brigade long before posting this, OP.

I know of some idiot who bought a used clip and keeps it in permanently so he doesn't hear the alarm as he never wears a seat belt.

Was in an accident when I was about 8, ejected out the back window from the back seat when the car rolled. Always wear a seat belt now, regardless of where I sit in the car.

So I was driving along on a stretch of road with a speed limit of 100km/h.

I was driving at 95km/h. I always ... I mean, always, obey the speed limit. I always drive conscientiously and is always polite and courteous to all road-goers and at a four way stop. Driving is a relaxing and safe pleasure to me.

The stretch of road is only a couple of kilometres long and quiet ... very quiet.

The suddenly a traffic official car's sirens went on behind me and pulled me over.

For you sir ... R500 ... you were not wearing your seat belt. I'm like ... What?!?!?!??

He literally drove up to me and checked me out.

His next words were ... "Be grateful, if you drove over a stop sign, it's R3000".

R500 is a lot of money to me. :(

EDIT: And by the way ... I drive this road twice a week the whole year ... why now 3 days before Christmas???

Chuck it in the cabby hole and forget about it ;)

You can get it reduced by half or more if you go to the traffic department and speak to someone at the court.

Be thankful you don't have R4,500 in fines. :(
