I've been given an old iMac G3, 2000 model, with slot loading cd. It's in very good, almost perfect condition - 1 little old lady owner from new. I know nothing about these things. It only has netscape and IE5 on it, so browsing the 'net on it is near impossible. The HDD is a bit whiny, but it otherwise runs fine.

Was wondering what to do with it. Any collectors out there? I'm thinking of just passing it on, free, to anyone who wants it. Trouble is I'm in the southern cape and it's a heavy little thing. I ain't paying shipping...

Or should I just bin it?

I quite like the keyboard - nice feel to it and the 2 usb ports on it are handy.

@ i.got-issues: I'll bag it up and put it in the garage. I'll keep it till you can organise to collect it. PM me when you're ready.

Awesome!!!

It will be soon, just trying to pin down a date and time... then I will PM you and see if it is OK.

Much appreciated.

It's got the original manuals and cd's with it too. and the pro mouse, not the round one. :)

Awesome, didn't know we had those here.

It was purchased new in the UK and brought here by my client. She used it for 7 years till she got a vista laptop. It's been in her wardrobe for the last 7 years. She's just turned 80. I doubt it's been used much. If I had leanings towards modern / retro type decor I'd mount it on a bar or side-table or something. But it's back in it's bag and waiting for i.got-issues to come and fetch it.

We have a core 2 duo iMac.
Cost us R14000, worth 0 now.
Couldn't even sell it when we tried.

OP: That's a great machine. I have the OS for it and a whole bucket of OS 9 software. I am also pretty sure it will run and could probably handle 10.2 (Jaguar) or .3 (Panther) and I have both of those as well.

Give it to i.got~issues - I'm giving him the Mac. :)

It seems it has an 8 Gb HDD and 64 MB of memory - both would need upgrading for it to run 10.2 I would imagine. It is stock bog standard remember, as it shipped from Apple UK in 2000.
