iMac G3

Give it to i.got~issues - I'm giving him the Mac. :)

It seems it has an 8 Gb HDD and 64 MB of memory - both would need upgrading for it to run 10.2 I would imagine. It is stock bog standard remember, as it shipped from Apple UK in 2000.

OK - sweet. iMac lives on. Issues: once you have it and have determined your intended use, lemme know how I can help. In the mean time, I will go through my archives of Classic OS software and let you know what I have.

Hi

This is going to be used as a jukebox playing music off an external HDD through an old retro amp... or it is intended to be used thus.

I have a thing for old, obsolete hardware, and this is just great.

I was hoping to find either a G4 Cube Mac

or one of these;

This G3 is just fantastic tho'... and its sounds perfect.

It looks awesome :) I've never seen one of those in the flesh.

This one is in mint condition too!

Thanks again Grouter. Very, very much appreciated.

Trying to source some RAM (only has 64MB)... updated it last night to OS 9.22 and it is quite useable, as long as it does not involve internet browsing.

Yee godz! I tried to browse this forum on it using Netscape 7, Opera 6.03 and IE for Mac 5.0 ... I have never heard a hard drive thrash so much and for so long just to get the page to load... and that took 11 minutes. Not much in the way of software really for OS 9, but iTunes 1.1 is installed, and next step is to see if I can get it to play nicely with an external drive ... then retro jukebox perhaps is possible.

Retro jukebox for a proper mancave :cool:

If I'm not mistaken the speakers in there were done by Harman Kardon. They should be very good!

Indeed... these speakers are LOUD, gave me a heart attack doing a test.

But, this will be connected to 80's amp and will not use the little built-in monsters.
