Imagine Uncapped Feedback

Yeah, same here. it's disgusting that the network can't even sustain anything close to a 384kb connection.

Yeah it does suck. Especially with 384 lines being as slow as they are - a 10KBps difference means a 25% difference in speed. It's horrible.

Well I never actually get more than 160kbs. And this is with direct http and ftp links. Which is quite shocking cause I don't know why IS can charge R499 for a 4Mbit product when it performs at less than half that 24/7

Yes, this is a 24h shaped account, but WTF.... it's Saturday evening.

edit.... and Steam is completely dead. So much for playing BC2 if I can't finish the update.

Looks like this account is permanently throttled now :(

:(:(:(

AAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH

DAMN CRAP BASTARDS BLOODYAGENTS!!!!!

DONT LAUGH!

I aint laughin'..... Ima crying too :(
Speeds are up to 30KBps now luckily, but been having a pretty horrible internet weekend - [I have to, due to no speed during the week] leave my series for the weekends, but now I can barely keep up at all.

Yeah - would love to see ADSL speeds starting at 4MB rather than the slow slow 384k.
It would allow much better contention ratios and general speeds over all. The few people who do want to download TBs of data per month will die out and most people will get their 100GBs in just 1.5 days per month. leaving space for another 20+ people to get their data allowances... rather than having to use the whole line speed 24/7 and making this country bottleneck and fail on its service provision.
Sorry to hear that things are going badly guys... Let's pray that Telkom or at least someone can see the light here.

thanks ppedrick. for now i would like to have steam unleashed- that would be really awesome :)

Thanks.
Yeah let's hope the light shines brightly and the end of the month comes quick so we can get Mweb from you :p

@Peter it's being caused by IS, not Telkom. Will it be OK if I only pay 50% FOR < 50% of 384 for next month? This is beyond TOTALY UNACCEPTABLE!

same torrent.
http://www.mortalonline.com/files/beta/MortalOnline142332b.rar.torrent

using IS new uncapped
1. normal - 20-50kB/s
2. secure ipsec vpn - 100-200kB/s, 130kB/s average

using axxess lite
same result with or without ipsec vpn
- 300-400kB/s, around 330kB/s average

using webafrica standard
1. normal - 300-400kB/s, around 320kB/s average
2. ipsec vpn - better results with normal.

...what i currently get, clearly IS is ****ing us, period. steam lol well that's kinda dead.

@Peter, your advice please. I am not going to put up ith this rubbish and will move to an Mweb connection as of next month. I would far prefer to do that through Imagine, but as things are I do understand that you cannot guarantee that such an option will be available to me.

So what do I do? Should I cancel Imagine now and join Mweb, or, if Imagine cannot offer me Mweb, will they accept my cancellation in the last week, or do I simply not pay for next month until I know what is happening?

I would cancel if you are feeling that you can't put up with it. That way you are guaranteed a choice for next month. No one is going to argue if the account is re-instated at the end of the month. That will give you the most options if you can't connect to MWeb through us for 1st June.

RE: MWeb vs. Telkom - I fully agree that IS are the cause of the highly contended and poor service... although reading feedback I'm now asking questions about the MWeb account too.
My point is that the high contention would actually work if this country had a decent ADSL speed provision. running 384k lines, although very profitable to Telkom only messes with the economic factoring of ADSL provision. The longer someone is conneccted the less people using the same line-space (contention) and the more bandwidth you have to buy per head, making the whole system cost more. Therefore, with Telkom chargin you for each line and then the Tier 1 for IPC they are only profiting. Their technology and DSLAMs could provide you all with a 'best-case' line speed where your speed is just dependent on your exchange distance. There is zero difference in cost to them as they need to accommodate for the bulk backhaul anyway... they are just profiteering by separating speeds in to 3 types and chargin you for it... and of course - ruining and entire industry.

Necuno - those results are expected thanks to everyone's desire to push the market back to per GB. I'm starting to think it's time I started to press the media and other management people again. To have seen no change in service performance in a few weeks and could suggest that I was given a peice-meal response just to shut me up. I was warned about this as it's happened from certain companys management several times. Although the new IS CEO does inspire a little hope. He was the man that made the company great and not the man who seemed to allow it to fall in to a fat and stupid position.

It really does piss me off though that noone in this industry seems to give a ****. The ISPs here were clearly making too much doing per GB and so noone wants this industry to progress. So let's hope that MWeb can get theimselves back together as we'll move all our customers to them in a heartbeat if it means we can help force a 20th century mentality to this backward old-boy industry.... phew... maybe I should be calmer on a Sunday evening :D

going to pour me a glass of wine and sit back and relax...

ppedrick. is there like a cp where i can see my download stats and so on ?

ppedrick. is there like a cp where i can see my download stats and so on ?

The IS stats page is there, but it has to be activated (worked last month, but not this month).

Yeah - At present IS are not allowing us to 'plug in to' their systems as we do with all of their other ADSL accounts. Therefore our Control Panel is useless for these products.
I also believe that the IS stats page isn't up to much and also not fuctioning... so all in all... no... again... and again.

We have another IS meeting today in which this integration process with be brought up for the millionth time and so we're hoping to see a more positive response shortly.
