Inbound Connections / Unrestricted APN (Now Testing!)

Words from cellc. They will be adding an application form for inbound connections at a later stage. They are focusing on stablizing the network issues and fixing the bugs from the recent upgrade that was done. So this will prob only be done at a later stage as it is not their highest priority atm.

@johnnybravo I'm a bit disappointed as well. Especially after finding out that they do offer it. But the main concern from cellc is that it will create more instablity while they are trying to fix other issues, so disappointing but worth the wait. Which would be better a system that is available that has bugs or something that you have to wait for that works? Thats they way i see it atm

Must say the vodacom Unrestricted APN has saved my bacon a few times. 2 years ago started a web streaming startup and streamed video from my encoding PC to Cape Town and Durban from the 18th hole on a golf course. Hairraising event, but Vodacom managed to UPLOAD at close to 1Mbps (guess it helped that the tower was not congested).

Now we have dedicated servers hosted in 100Mbps datacentres, planning on dropping Vodacom, but will still keep a prepaid sim with an unrestricted APN just in case. Slides + audio is always better than nothing at all...

Back to CellC and unrestricted... Remote monitoring, user support (grandma in Cape Town) etc will greatly be appreciated. Although only 50 people have replied / voted, I believe the need is GREAT. Build it (enable it) and they wil come.

I stay away from MTN (maybe they have improved, but could not get unrestricted on prepaid and STAY AWAY FROM ANY MTN CONTRACT).

So will wait till Cell C is "stable" (I am pleasently supprised using it as main connection from home about 16hrs per day and extremely stable for me in Centurion).

At least there is feedback from CellC and that is why they are getting MY money at the moment.
 
Have you received any indication of time frames from CellC? I know I am not alone in saying I can't wait for this to be activated...
 
No there is no set time frame as they are more worried about current standing issues but they are keeping this open. Sorry i can't narrow it down

I am so happy that we get feedback in this forum.

Even though I'm the most impatient person I know - I shall wait this one out.
 
I also believe that Cell-C should be offering this as soon as possible. Fortunately I had used Vodacom as a failover for a customer of mine this week that needed inbound email on port 25 when their ADSL line was faulty. Come on all the service providers - make this available asap. This is a business requirement.

The longer you take to provide it, the more businesess you lose - simple to understand I believe.

I could have got my customer to sign up for a Cell-C contract if this option was available!
 
Was also about to post topic till i saw this....
Where can i vote for this feature? I desperately need this and have resorted to using teamviewer for remote access and looking into a overseas VPN service with a static IP addy as work around.... It's really unacceptable that they didn't have this from day one!
