Just take one of the bundles, no installation cost then. Just make sure it's month to month and not 24 months for obvious reasons.

Do I have to join a contract to get the adsl line installed? Cause that's what the person at the telkom store told me?

What about the landline installation? Can that be done month to month or do I have to get a contract?

Hi Jocathy, it depends on which plan you choose. But I would sign a 24 month contract if I were you, then you get a free modem-router, worth maybe R800.

You can opt for the month-to-month option but wont get a router.

Do you have any existing telkom services?

No, just moved into a new apartment so no landline or adsl @ponder

Call 10213 and ask them wrt to charges but there aren't any as far as I'm aware. If you have fibre coverage in your area rather go for the fibre options as you will have less copper issues and and you will have a much better upgrade path in the future. I opted for the 4Mb/s fibre deal and there was no installation charges or anything like that.

Pretty sure that the sales consultants are taking the piss here.
Frustrated beyond measure with these idiots, trying to activate my telephone and ADSL line, went through 5 people telling me different things. Should be noted that both were active like 3 years ago, so no need for a physical installation.
I was told that it'd be active within this week without having the need for technicians to come out, I phone today to check the status and I'm told my reference number magically got allocated to someone else's order, then had to go through the process of explaining to the lady my situation, 20 minutes later she says that they're going to HAVE to come do an installation and assured me now there'd be no charge. Crossing my fingers, nobody knows wtf is going on over there.
Would not kill them to hire people who actually know something.
That being said, you may want to talk to more than one person to find out what your options are or aren't
