Installing Telkom FTTH through WebAfrica

They'll probably get suspicious because I already tried applying for leave. When other people's cousins come and visit they get their leave approved in less than an hour. I'll try and get to the doctor or something, I really don't want to lose my opportunity.
 
Enjoy! Took them about 1.5 hours to do the installation for me. How many weeks did you wait?
 
Telkom finished about 20 - 30 minutes ago. Took about 2 hours total, roughly. Give or take 30 minutes. Very easy, smooth, simple and no problems, they fixed an issue at the Fibre Hub, then contacted and my line was syncing Green light on Optical and Power, he ran a test and got 19.26mbit/s down and about 10up. 0ms jitter and 4ms ping.

Now to wait for WA router dude to do the installation and I'm all set!
 
Router being delivered tomorrow as I couldn't be at home today, otherwise the techie would have come to install at 13:00. Too much time off of work... Ai. All in good time I guess, Thread updated in 1st post.

I'm still waiting on my fibre installation 10 weeks after placing the order.

Still nothing? Chase WA/Telkom up now, as thats the end of their lead time. And yeah, after gaming on 3G for 3 years with constant crap lag and expensive data this is like waking up from a nightmare. Although we our lease ends next August so I better enjoy it while possible. Hopefully we stay.

It must be like night and day!

Ye I've even got through to the operations manager who has queried my order with Telkom, and they told him 6 weeks... So I placed an order with Axxess. From what I've read their fibre orders tend to get completed rather quickly (but then I will miss out on the free router).

Router isn't a big deal, simple TP-Link Router with a WAN Port. Should be fine if you get one with a WAN port.
 
I applied with WebAfrica Monday 13 September.

Telkom guy was here this morning but he can't pull fiber to my house, looks pipe is blocked. Have to call other guys to do that.

They told me 4-6 weeks they were here in week and 3 days
 
ordered Fibre through Webafrica beginning of June. Canceled my ordered 2 weeks ago because they keep saying telkom said the infrastructure is not there. But if you check their website I am covered, even phoned telkom directly and they can see I am covered. Telkom even came to my complex adverting the fibre options. So ja Webabfrica sucks from my experience. Now ordered it through Axxess R499 per month for Fibre line only. Got sms that telkom will contact me for site inspection.
 
11 weeks after placing an order with WebAfrica and still waiting. Nobody seems interested in investigating the delay.

Hi guys,

Judging on this thread and the comments made I'm guessing I have to contact WA in regards to a Telkom reference Number for Fibre installation?

Applied a few days ago and submitted all the paper work and such, still have not heard anything from them regarding any updates?

Contractor working for Telkom was here today, they will come tomorrow morning to clean pipe for fiber to be pushed
Applied with WA: 13 September
First Telkom visit: 22 September
Second Telkom visit: 27 September

Hi Hades911

If your order is placed via Telkom it will take a few weeks before we get an order date. We get a list of order numbers daily so as soon as we get yours we will contact you. Can you PM your account info as well so I can also follow your order progress.
