you get much better after market coolers. Check out coolermaster, stay away from the sphere its rubbish. They dont use those dumb clipz.

Thats how I cracked my old motherboard. Released the cooler's clips to clean it and the board flexed back Was an MSI board.

Totally stupid and unnecessary to fasten the heatsink that tightly.

Maybe it's Intel's other stream of revenue - cracked motherboards...

Yeah Intel stock heat sinks just suck, I find that the AMD stock heat sinks are much better quality and do not bend your board...

I also find it to be a mission to mount them on a board for a "tight" fit

Yup they are the utter crap... but I've not bothered getting an aftermarket cooler.

the other day I applied some coolermaster fusion paste and that brought the temps down by 3C and trying to get the cooler to snap back was a mission because the board has warped enough to only accept it at a certain angle now.

I remember the first time I built a LGA775 board... I was nervous of this whole thing breaking apart. I got used to it, but the general rule is, once in, never remove

I have never had a problem before, just make sure you support the board when installing.

My intel board bows as well with stock & aftermarket coolers. A crap design if you ask me.

The AMD ones where it clips onto the socket are much better.

The coolers with the backplates are quite awesome.

Don't know why they don't make all coolers this way.

This was a known problem with Socket 478. It was "fixed" with the advent of LGA775

It's not really the cooler but the attachment design of the Inter Boards.

The Coolermaster Hyper TX 2 is a great buy for your budget.
