International Slow

Mweb doesn't have prepaid capped ADSL anymore does it?

Trying to download updates for The Secret World, but slower than a paralyzed slug with a glue gland. Tried Webafrica and Afrihost.

Update:
A fault was identified on European Indian Gateway (EIG) cable system off the coast of Portugal.
This has affected the SAT3 cable which has failed SAT3 traffic to SEACOM.
Seacom is at capacity at the moment and that’s why our ADSL is slow at the moment
Initial resolution time was Sunday but new developments indicate it may be resolved as early as 18h00 tonight

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
Thank you for your patience this far.

Tonight? I am sorry but that hard to believe...Lets hope for the best

Additional capacity for our fail-over international links have been brought online, so improved international experiences should be improved. Let us know :)
The repair ship is still en route, unfortunately a fix won't be able to be implemented tonight, hopefully tomorrow!

Is webafrica working? I do have a pre-paid account with them for times like these :)

I'm with WA. It's working for me. The is for browsing. Downloading is slow.

We're running at 80% capacity at the moment, so a better online experience should be seen - however we can't guarantee anything at this stage yet.
As mentioned previously, ETR of a fix should be tomorrow. No further feedback is expected tonight.

Once we have feedback tomorrow we'll continue posting.
Thanks again for everyones patience.

I'm with Axxess and I'm dying. It takes forever just to open a google page. :(

Update from Axxess :(:(

Increased Latency & Packet Loss - UPDATE 2 [Posted: 29 Jun 12]
UPDATE2: We have been advised that maintenance is currently being performed on the submarine cable system until 02/07, intermittent connectivity, increased packet loss and increased latency will persist until the maintenance is completed.

This is utter crap... Even local browsing is completely useless.. And we have to deal with this for a few days... I want a discount on next month ADSL bill. I paid for a full month not few days less than a month.

Thanks Jeff! I'm able to play World of Warcraft at decent latencies :D

This is such BS. Remind me how many cables we have running out of SA again? Paying about R12 000 a year for ADSL and I have to put up with this ****

Morning everyone,

No further updates, we're still running at 80% capacity as per my post last night. Things do seem to look better though with latency seeing better performance.
I've requested an updated from our upstream providers however nothing has come through just yet. We're waiting on an ETA on when the ship starts performing repairs as well as a better ETR on final repairs.

In the mean time, here's some interesting reading on how undersea cables are repaired :)

The SAT-3 repair vessel is on-site, bringing the damaged part of the cable to surface to start running repairs. No ETR at this stage. More updates to follow as soon as we receive them.
