Doesn't iPad have better aps compared to other tablets?
You can keep your SA account, and register another account in the US; basically to get this domes you need to do the following (not my rules ;-):Dumb question : but I see I've registered a SA account with my iPod, so guessing easy enough to change.
My question is - should I see a download button?
Or does it appear when the iPad is connected?
EDIT : Angry Birds and the Steve Jobs Biography not on SA apps store?
For the techy user, most of the real powerhouse stuff will only be available via a JB. Once you JB there is almost no restriction as most Unix style programs run quite ok (usually after a quick compile); however the UI based stuff will require Xcode 4 and some development.Define better?
I don't see any PPPOE or firewall applications in the App store not to mention SSH encrypted remote controls for Amarok or SMS text tab that allow you to text from your tablet linked to your phone.....
In general you are correct i.e. there are more commercially rich applications built to take advantage of the larger screen.Doesn't iPad have better aps compared to other tablets?
I was the same when I got itWhen I ordered my iPad i downloaded all my apps onto my pc before I even got it, saved the waiting for it to download while I was trying to play on It! Haha
The main disadvantage of the iPad is that it brings out the worst in Apple haters. Apple should be forced to attach a warning label on the iPad. iPad owners are at risk of being abused (verbal abuse almost guaranteed, behind their backs mostly).

1. Sign out go your SA account i.e. log off
2. Switch to the US store
3. Follow the instruction in the URL from creating account (you must try to download a free app, this is what allows to avoid using your credit card; which btw they wouldn't accept as they check that the credit card ties up with the US street address you will be providing)
Then once the account is set up you can buy things via two methods:
1. Buy gifts cards (http://www.epointsdelivered.com/ This is one I've been using, Jessica, the owner of this service is very helpful and reliable, but as with anything like this there are many alternative sites to buy from, and I'm pretty sure there will be many suggestions on this forum)
2. Something which I haven't tried and saw with sending this reply is what appears to be a bypass around the physical address checks that Apple does with payment details, it's included as an option in the URL I provided. http://www.hopshopgo.com/ -- I have no experience with this option, so please take care if you try it. I might be trying it soon, and will provide feedback.
FYI, you can load the serial number of the gift card using the redeem button in the iTunes store, basically you enter the number and your password and the balance is adjusted to reflect this on your account.
Ok once your US account is set up, you start buying / downloading apps that you need (incl. free ones). Basically just click on either the price or the button free to start the download.
The part that puts this on your iPad will only be visible once you plug in the iPad (but remember with ios5 you can buy everything on the iPad if you like or via iTunes either through manual sync).
No games are on the SA store (hence angry birds missing), also most of the books -- this is due to the fact that our lazy and incompetent gov has decided to not link up with the international ratings system i.e. they believe they can do a better job :wtf: Basically what this means for the authors / games creators is that they need to pay +-R5000 to get their material rated for release in SA, how initials authors can afford and how many will just avoid the marker entirely.
btw I have no problem with the name![]()
Jailbreak?![]()
Only problem with this is you always lag behind latest OS, well unless you like running tethered.
The SA part works just like any store.Whoa! Thanks!
I'm going to have to do this at home!
So one doesn't buy apps like a normal store? You need vouchers and then buy apps?
You know what I'm thinking, right?![]()
That's the reason I chose to stop getting locked into the JB option. I spent around $250 and now own the majority of the apps I'll ever need, except every now and then there is a really good game I can't resist buying.Only problem with this is you always lag behind latest OS, well unless you like running tethered.

The only thing I really miss from the Cydia store is SBSettings and WIFI sharing on the iPad (pissed off at Applefor not including something like this)

LMAOMay I answer this is in a truthful, yet nicely worded and positive toned post?![]()
I have never seen the need to use VLC on the iPad (screen is not really suited to movies vs TV, maybe on the occasional flight I guess), on the mac with (DivX, Perian and Flip4Mac), I hardly ever find the need to use VLC.My use of JB is not because of piracy, in fact I have no pirated apps. Its more linked to Open Source applications like VLC and XBMC, oh an also themes so guess I am stuck at older versions till untethered gets released
See complaint no 2

I do however have a solution for the woes of those people that don’t want to buy iTunes vouchers and buy in the US store: Move to Kenya.
I was going to check if Kazakhstan had a games category when I saw that there was a Mac App Store for Kenya.
So I created an Apple ID for the Kenyan store, ticked the box to accept the terms and conditions, used my credit card billing address for the street address (but filled in Nairobi as the city). I dug up a Nairobi post code and phone number, although I doubt that they will check the phone number as long as it conforms to their numbering system – three digit code and seven digit number.
For the credit card details, I entered my SA card details and then clicked ‘Buy’ for the US$4.99 version of Angry Birds.
Lo and behold, a short while later, the pigs were getting it from the birds.
