iPad 20MB limit over 3G?

Is this limit also imposed on the iPhone 4S, I have put my name down for my first Apple device ... , not that it is a hardship, as wireless works where available but ja ...

Its weird how the iPad 2 costs so much (over R4000), but you still have to do things like jail breaking your iPad 2 or following complicated steps (as mentioned by the vodacom rep above) just to get more apps. Why buy iPad 2 if it is this annoying with apps?

It's not general browsing though or normal HTTP.

It's the App Store (purchases or upgrades), Facetime and I think Newstand too (on the iPad anyhow)

I have no issues

Is using one's cell phone as a personal hotspot complicated?

Personally I think this 20mb limitation issue is being blown totally out of proportion.

There half a dozen incredibly easy workarounds to circumvent the restrictions. Pick one and get on with your life :)

Yes, but they cost you money, and inconvience, that should not be ... , not at the premium price you pay for Apple products, if it was happening on a Telefunken tablette, then ja, well, no, fine ...

You pay more for a Samsung tablet and the restrictions exist on Amazon's android market too so your point is moot...

Using your phone as a hotspot is not that complicated, but not all phones has this feature and I don't have a data sim in my phone. Really inconvenient for me as I don't have a micro sim adapter to do the whole swapping of sim this, and then I also don't want to do that.

I don't think its being blown out of proportion, as it is a mobile device, but it doesn't want to work to its full potential on our mobile network which isn't a limitation of the hardware itself, but a choice by the manufacturer.

I don't have wifi at my office or when I am travelling, so there isn't a work around for me until a jailbreak comes out for iOS 5.

Amazon and it prejudices all Android users regardless of their tablet or the premium they paid for their tablets...

Yes, it does. But at least there you have an alternative. I don't even have the Amazon market and I would think most android users don't either. It came out default with the normal market which works over 3G.

I am currently seriously thinking of getting a iphone 4s or galaxy nexus just so that I can get the micro sim into a phone so I can create a hotspot (And the fact that I can flash my SGS anymore as I broke my mini usb and it can't be used as a flash drive anymore).

+1

Android, has alternative marketplaces, and Wi-Fi access is not universely available or free, and why must the customer be forced to go to extra expense, and inconvience for a senseless limit, imposed by the phone manufacturer.

Yeah, life's terribly unfair sometimes...
