I just got this email from iStore:

Interesting pricing:

It’s time to replace my 2013 iPad air with the new one. Served me well for 7 years without any issues but it’s slow now.
Pricing is a bit steep for the 256gb model .

Yep, the 256GB Air 4 is inching closer to the reduced price of the 2020 iPad Pro 11” 128GB

Coming from an OG iPad Air, you’ll probably be happy with either though

I came from a iPad Air 2 to 2020 iPad Pro 11” and it was a really nice jump, especially the 120hz ProMotion display and 6GB RAM.

Yea the current one is slow and the pages keeps on reloading when you have more than one tab open.

The iPad pro is a beast.

I should add that my Pro is the 10.5" variant... Not the 11" Pro... The Air 4 would be quite a significant upgrade for me...

Yeah, people really don’t get this about iPads, they may cost a lot but they really get the mileage.
My old iPad 4 which I got shortly after launch in late 2012 is now still being used by my little sister at school.
My old iPad Air 2 which I got in 2015 and only just retired now for the iPad Pro 2020, simply needs a battery replacement, once that is done I will probably give it to my grandmother to replace her iPad Mini.
They really get mileage, and even when they lose OS update support Apple still gives them Security Patch updates within the iOS version they are in, the iPad 4 got iOS 10.3.4 sometime last year.

Suppose the question is, is the pro worth the R4.5k price difference to the air? That's not an insignificant price difference.

They should be even closer in price than that. South Africa's distributor is still charging an inflated price for the Pro. In the UK it is a mere £30 difference. For such a small difference in price the choice comes down to whether you need the extra 128Gb storage versus a better screen, better camera and better multicore performance.

The South African distributor is scamming their customers as usual too. They over-inflated their prices, then shortly afterwards started displaying slightly less inflated prices as sale and reduced.

This is not at all surprising to hear, we are forever being scammed in SA, LOL!

Damn, only starting at R12.5k.
What is the cheapest current iPad model, is this the new entry level?

I found this today on the Incredible Connection website. The Ipad 8th generation
32GB for R6 899. This is the very latest entry level model and has an A12 chip.

What is annoying is that I bought the 7th generation, which has a slower A10 chip, for the same price just
2 months ago. Of course the helpful salesman forgot to mention that the release of the 8th generation was imminent. Considering returning it and buying this one.

Any good deals on the iPad Air 4 for BF?

The best deal I can find is the FNB purchase option via the iStore - which essentially adds 5% cost but allows you to pay it over 16 months!

Additionally is 64GB storage OK for an iPad nowdays? I mean the OS is currently +-10GB - so is the remaining space sufficient for app storage?
