iPad Mini, where does it sit in the Apple tree?

The one thing that looks amazing on my mini is when you turn the pages it looks so real the way the page curls.

Love this on iOS. Do it slowly and from the very tip of the page. Notice how you can actally see the type "through" the page from the other side... it is truly astonishing, the level of detail and what it takes to acheive that, how far back in the process you have to planb for a tiny detail like that to materialise in the final product.

Yeah now we can see what all the patent fuss was about, even if I don't read a book I can play with the pages.

@waynegohl: have you installed Flipboard yet?

You must do this.

Brother, I installed it on my ipod touch and it's the best thing since sliced bread so that was one of the first apps I installed on the pad, kilo introduced me to it and it's the best place to go when I am looking for the latest apps.

I was fortunate enough to win the ipad mini in the Kyknet Dagbreek competition last week - was contacted by them last Thursday & it was delivered the very next day :D I must say it is so impressive (although I don't have any other ipad to compare it with?) The battery life is excellent (although Im not playing with it 24/7 like I do on my iphone ) I am waiting for my son to bring me a cover from the UK before I start carting it around with me but reading a book on there is so much better than my kindle :D graphics are amazing & it's just the right size for your hands - in short I LOVE IT!!!:D

There are plenty of examples of skeuomorphic design decisions that apple implemented that don't work... but ibooks isn't one of them.

Congrats man!

yeah the battery life is damn impressive.

I messed around a bit with google earth on it but the closer I got to land/buildings the fuzzier it got now maybe I should have waited for the picture to "settle" but if I do the same on the ipod touch it is very clear.

I find it too light on information, too heavy on flashy animations. I'm sticking with straight up RSS and for that, Reeder is the one for me - although it's also not perfect. I haven't actually found the perfect RSS reader on iPad, whereas Android has the Google Reader app which is great.

Have a look at "Vodio" it's like Flipboard for videos.

Works very well.

The funniest feature is SIRI, when you ask it questions in afrikaans it really messes up. We did this with some other apps on the ipod and we were all laughing at the "english" words that were translated.

I'm aware :) ...I was merely comening on one skeumorph in iBooks that personally I feel is a poor choice.

I just set it to slide transition between pages. I'm not interested in jazzing it up unnecessarily. I'd be much happier if they'd put some work into the typography and layout functions. There isn't one single e-reader that has cracked this one; and yet it's meant to be replacing paper? Actually iBooks is better than Kindle, but it still doesn't really get a pass.

Works very well, just not for transferring files between devices.

I activated 2 ipod touches and they only picked up the LG KS360. How does it work and what do we use it for then if not transferring files?
