iPad Mini, where does it sit in the Apple tree?

I activated 2 ipod touches and they only picked up the LG KS360. How does it work and what do we use it for then if not transferring files?

Hands free, bluetooth headphones, various 3rd party and Apple accessories, hotspot tethering... No file transfer between devices though...

Ok but do you activate bluetooth for hotspot tethering? I activated the hotspot on the android phone and pick it up when i do a wi fi search.

I don't understand. If you got an iPad mini with 3G/LTE you can turn it into a wireless hotspot which requires bluetooth/wifi!!

Sorry, let me rephrase it.

On an ipod touch I don't activate bluetooth to use the hot spot from my android phone.

You could - if the local SPs supported it.

Isn't it only Vodacom that is still 'battling' with that?
I can confirm that 8ta is also included on the "not working" list. AFAIK none of them do officially, they're all pointing fingers away from themselves, but there is a hack available elsewhere in the forum that enables it on some networks.

I can confirm MTN does. Never had an issue with tethering on my 4S.

It is tethering using iPads that is the problem. iPhones = no problem. For some reason Apple must enable it for SA per the Networks. Difficult to understand why Apple would have a problem doing so for SA specifically.

My bad.

Chances are it's our carriers with the problem.

Buying a cover for iPad Mini.

We headed off today to our local Chinatown to look for a protective cover for the new iPad Mini and met a few shocked shopkeepers. Some told me that they don't have YET as the ipad mini was only just released and when i took the one out that I had won here on MyBB they were very surprised and asked to see it and asked questions about it. We found 1 shop selling some nice covers but the biggest surprise of all was one shop asked that my wife make them covers for them to sell there as she had made an iPad Mini protection cover for this one because I had given it to her as an early xmas gift.

I sold my gas gun last night for the money to buy the cover from Chinatown so we should be heading that way either this weekend or next week because some friends have never been there. But regarding the screen protector, are you talking about that film type stuff and does it not make the screen a little unresponsive because I was thinking of getting her that too?

I bought this screen protector : http://www.bidorbuy.co.za/item/84224878/New_Screen_Protector_for_Apple_iPad_Mini_Clear.html
It's not MATT, its glossy - unfortunately I already had my iPad mini in November and NO ONE in SA had accessories.. Personally I would rather get another screen protector which has Anti-Glare.. Oh and it doesnt make the screen un-responsive at all :) and yip its a type of film you put on your iPad Mini's Screen.

Out of curiosity, how much is the cover in China town? I paid about R400 for mine at the iStore - its a black leather book type case.

Anytime man,

The iPad Mini's are set to be released this weekend, so I'm sure the iStores will have much more accessories by next week.

I would have to sell my house to afford those prices, if push comes to shove I will protect it with clingwrap.

we have a problem now with the ipad mini. My wife has downloaded a few books to the pad and is reading one at the moment and because the graphics are so realistic she has wet her finger a couple of times so she can turn the pages. She is doing things as if she is reading a real paper book and not a book on a ipad, very strange.

There are plenty of examples of skeuomorphic design decisions that apple implemented that don't work... but ibooks isn't one of them.

Really? I find pages to be an old concept brought into an environment that doesn't suit it. Fortunately they implemented scrolling recently.
