My toddler pulled my iPad Pro 9.7 off the table and severely damaged the screen. It's barley a month old! And yes uninsured.
I have been gathering options
1. IStore told me that it cannot be repaired. They will take it and give me some kind of rebate on a new one. Has anyone done this before?
2. Try and have it repaired at one of these repair centres. Phoned a few and and they either quote me the price of a new one, or tell me straight there is no parts available.

Any other helpful ideas?

You will regret all other options other than this one even though you are going to pay...

Yea. It's like a silicon sandwich. This is why, as parents, we can't have nice things.

silicon sandwich ? ?

And dont be fooled by Samsung either. My 3 year old galaxy note 10.1 can also not be repaired. I have no tablets at all in my house now, its one ofthe hardest working devices we have.

Have you tried weFix? They used to be called iFix but recently changed their name. They're probably your best bet as far as quality repairs go.

So they are charging me R7499 to repair the cracked screen.....

Ouch - their work is good, and it comes with a guarantee, but still… what sort of rebate was iStore offering?

Try option 1 first, if they give you a bad deal after they assessed it, you can always say no and look at plan B.
BTW I wonder if iStore and Digicape will sing different tunes on this one, maybe also try Digicape?

Your insurance might cover this under your household content as it happened inside your house and was an accident.

Worth finding out.

Nope, not specified. However they did say if I can get it repaired or replaced they will cover it.

Yeah that's what I mean, there is usually some "blanket" cover up to a certain amount for stuff that happens in home.

No, not for portable possessions as they called it. They do cover things like televisions and mirrors (? ?) from accidental damage, but not cellphones, laptops and tablets.
Downside is they have now added a note on my policy that I inquired about it...not sure how that will effect my premium now.

Anyone used iFix/WeFix? Fumbled yesterday and cracked iPhone 6 screen (almost unnoticeable hairline crack, but still annoying).

Yes, R2k to replace an iPad 3 screen + the component underneath.
Century City one, took about four days, last year.
