iPhone 12 Rumours & Release Date

I think we all understand how chaotic things might be getting at their warehouses as well as on the road this time of the year. We really feel for these guys continuously working around the clock, hot or cold and even worse, during the pandemic. We're gripping about broken promises.
For example, most of us received notifications stating that our deliveries are out to us on Friday for example. Some of us don't live in complex's or have someone available at our address to collect the packages for us. So what do we do?! We stay home waiting for our deliveries, and stress every 30 mins we go to the shop because courier drivers cannot wait 15 mins for us to come back from the shop. BAM! It's already "Hello, Curfew!". 1 day wasted. Next day, we receive the same SMS and the cycle continues.. Amidst all of this, we try to get ahold of the courier company only to find that they promise us the same promise without any further info. Then there's managers who themselves don't know anything.
All some of us simply wanted from RTT, in this case, was accurate information so that we can plan our schedules a little better.
Edit: I just realised this seemed like a rant towards you, Inn3rs3lf, but it isn't.. :)
It is a f*ing joke all these courier companies in SA.

How hard is it to have the PDA you use to sign for the delivery be connected to the internet and it simply sends you an SMS saying you are next in line for delivery automatically since the delivery order and list is on the PDA?

No more issues with waiting for people or wasting fuel driving to a location 3 times for a delivery attempt.

Huh. I wonder why I’m not picking up 5G. Did you have to enable something on your side in order for it to work? Maybe change the APN?
Absolutely nothing. Popped my MTN sim in and it asked to update carrier settings and that was that.
honestly imo 5G is pretty useless since you have 2-3GB data bundles. Would rather have dual sim over 5G

Just got my IPhone 12, anybody have an idea when vodacom will support 5g? And do you think they will charge a fee?

My carrier settings updated too, enabled 5G, but all I see is the LTE logo on the top right.
But I guess you’re right, just wanted to experience a little bit of the fast speed :)

Joh, what size data bundles are you using? I shift more that just streaming music in the car. 5G might only be beneficial if we have 100gb+ data bundles.

Went into iStore Sandton Drive to buy a screen protector...

The one sales assistant offered to help me install the protector but came to me afterwards to say that she'll buy me a new one as the one I purchased has bubbles and that if she doesn't pay for it herself, she'll get a warning. I couldn't believe it! I told her not to worry and that I'd buy another one and that these things happen.

There were just too many customers and too few staff to help with zero social distancing going on- all they care about is sales! The poor woman who helped me had a mild panic attack as she was being harassed & inundated by customers while helping me.

I wish I could get hold of someone there to kak them out for their behaviour towards their staff!

This is the last time I'll ever support them.

That's because for a lot of the courier companies here, the delivery list is not sorted according to the delivery schedule, and the pda holding the list of deliveries is not connected to the gps system that provides the optimal routing between delivery destinations. Only the really big companies like dhl and fedex seem to have the deeply integrated level for live updates.

What does everyone do on their phones for them to want 5G at say 200mvits versus 80Mbits for LTE, and at the expense of battery life due to the inefficient chips of the first generation of most phones?

Serious question. Even if it’s to tether, what are you using it for?

I went to MTN Centurion Mall and they said they don't do eSim for prepaid lines only contract.

Finally received my pacific blue 12 pro. Haven’t played with it yet. Best yet worst feeling is using a naked iPhone. Should I just get the case from the istore? Also, are the new AirPods released already?

It's new so have to be used. Come on now, get with the program. WiFi to your fibre connected router is so pre-COVID

It shouldn't be that difficult, a number of couriers in the UK do similar. For example DPD send you a message in the morning with an hour slot, you can then track the courier and it counts down deliveries till he gets to you.

Amazon send a message when the courier is about 10 stops away and you can then track on a map. This is the current festive courier van.

I’m sure it was a bittersweet moment.

If you can’t wait then yeah go grab a case from Istore. Personally I think most of their cases are way overpriced, especially the Apple branded ones. Better to look elsewhere.

I would suggest a screen protector as soon as possible though.

I really don't see this as a difficult task. If food delivery services in SA are doing it, why can't every other courier company do the same?! The cost of wasted time is way more than getting any software house to develop something like this. The problem is that companies still do not see how the lack of tech innovation in their organization can mean certain death in the next few years..

I always advise UAG cases for any phone if you can find it. If R800 is too much to protect your R20k+ smartphone, you can always go the cheapie route and get a case from a cell repair shop. There's also NXTech cases from takealot for about R200/300.

The downside of many screen protectors is the glare/reflection when looking at your screen..

Thanks man. Yeah bitter sweet indeed haha. I agree Apple is overly priced. Checking takealot at the moment they have quite a few.
Have you guys purchased the charging plug from the istore? I see takealot has a number of them with good reviews. Is it worth paying the high price for the istore or are the ones on takealot of great quality?
TIA.

Thanks man. I understand what you mean. The NXTech cases on takealot look decent but I’d really like to try them out first. Do you know of stores that stock them where one could try them out and purchase?
