iPhone 14 discussions

I keep hearing this and yet I’m not seeing it, seems like one of those internet myths.

Batteries happily work on any device, so do screens and those are the most common items.

Sure you can’t transfer the logic board, but that’s a small part of the total equation.

I’m pretty sure that I’ve seen a video with a guy that purchased two exact iPhones brand new - and couldn’t swap parts been them without an error message appearing

Yes anything tied to security which is mostly the logic board can’t just be swopped out.

But displays, batteries, antennas etc are all interchangeable.

Basically anything you normally see offered for repair.

The phone will still work if you change those, but it‘ll still flag those changes. In the case of the battery, you won’t be able to see battery health and in the case of the display, you won’t have True Tone capability (nor high refresh, but don’t quote me on that as it’s been a while since I watched that test) anymore. This test was done using genuine Apple replacements from another brand new phone

Still don’t believe it.

Especially with them now selling self repair parts etc, it would fall foul of all that.

It would also mean no third party could ever replacement those items successfully which simply isn’t true.

Well, dont take my word for it:

and while you at it, have a look at the pain that is the Apple Self Repair Program

He is but one example, there’s many more if you want to check for yourself

As has become the new normal, any battery installed in an iPhone without the use of Apple’s repair software is seen as not “genuine.” It displays a warning that starts on the lock screen, then migrates to the Settings app. And it removes your ability to see your battery health, a useful marker for when you need to replace. It’s not great, Bob. But at least you can get juice out of the thing.

Seems to be an issue on many parts as well where you get a warning. They battled with a display as well

Since iPhone 11 those part numbers are married to the logic board. You can transplant them over, and the phone would work for the most part, but you'll receive constant warnings about it and I believe they cut the device off of iCloud services.

You'll see that with their DIY repair program, part of the repair process is to run some sort of system pairing software that then remarries the new parts to the device.

So then what’s the problem? It can be done after all.
You are sorely mistaken if you think you can transplant from one phone to another. It will replace the serial numbers with the ones that you ordered from them. Not ones stolen from another phone

At the current exchange rate, I think the Pro and Pro Max are going to be ridiculously priced.
