iPhone 14 discussions

Not able to comment if Sauron is one, I don't recall seeing him posting explicitly that he is one.

Well, he said he is.

Didn’t you just say that If you say it, you aren’t? I don’t need to tag Sauron - he’ll sniff out a post by me and quickly come to tell me I’m wrong

I prefer not to get into a how long is a piece of string argument that has zero end result.

It’s not worth the energy mate.

The very one you are arguing with is a self proclaimed one who clearly isn’t.

So you're not ?

I'm so confused with all the shifting & changing ...

With your 100+ apps open right now, does that mean you are (which means you're not)?
Or you're not - which means ... I'm not sure ? You are?

Anyway, was just curious about what people do on their phones nowadays

@SauRoNZA you are a power user, which means are you aren't. Either way you use many more apps than the average person.

Check :

Normally, an average person has 40 apps installed on his phone. Out of that 40 apps, 89% of the time is split between 18 apps.

On another note, did the developers of 22SEven get back to you ? My girlfriend has also resorted to Android phones for 22Seven until she can properly analyze and use the app. I explained that the issues she's having with apps is the developers and no indication the iPhone

I think Photography will be the big thing this year, new and bigger main sensor, and a new selfie camera with AF which will be great.
I'm pretty happy with my 13's camera, even if the raw files are a schlep to get off the thing. Prores video is also great to work with. When I travel for leisure I leave my cameras at home.

The only thing that would make me envious is if they gave the 14's lightning port USB-C speeds.

IMO anyone that claims they’re a “phone power user” is *not* one. A true phone power user will not claim to be one but will just get down to business.
I feel like everyone is a power user in their own way these days, these devices are so versatile, it really is up to what you do with them.

Have you seen how Gen Z use their phones? These things are literally stuck to their hands all day, my 15yrld little sister and 10 yrld little cousin consume more content on their phones than they do on TV, in fact they don’t just consume they also create their own content. Those are the real power users

Was at a Birthday party yesterday and yep the camera on this thing really impressed me, I’m especially impressed by the Portrait Mode, seems to be a significant step up from what I had in the 11PM.

Still need to try ProRes.

I did see a rumour claiming the 14 would have faster transfer speeds in its Lightning port, let’s see what they show us on Weds, the rumour mill has been all over the place.

Looking at the leaks, if true. A very underwhelming release. Might as well wait for the 15 and USB-C
I am feeling the same as you. Problem is I skipped the iPhone 13, I like the idea of a USB charger, too. I might as well wait another year for the 15, my 12 is still doing alright.

That's something that would interest me. I don't care what port they use as long as they boost the transfer speeds.

Ah, I'm skeptical of anyone that claims to be a "Power User" using a mobile device. What are the prerequisites of being a "Power User" ?

Most teenagers are de facto power users.

Three days to go and have changed my mind a dozen times now, between keeping the 12 another year, buying a 13 Pro at discount, buying a 14 or buying a 14 Pro if the price increase isn't too steep.

Hopefully the 14 is so much of an improvement it becomes a no-brainer.

This was discussed a few pages.

I’m sceptical of anyone here that says the iPhone is the ultimate and uses it in factory state and just plops in a SIM.

I think you’ll start seeing cracks when you use the phone

Well, the rules change - so it’s not quite and dry.

I noticed when an app crashed on my Android, it was a shitty OS. But on my iPhone it’s a shitty developer.

Sauron is a power user with iOS and that’s great - but obviously when an Android user is a power user, everyone mocks him.

When iPhone had an average battery a few years ago - no one cared at all. Now they have a decent battery, it’s all I hear about.

The one hard thing with an iPhone user is being ‘involved’ in the Apple club as everyone else just see’s you as a knob

ProRes is a waste of space and time.

Unless you are bringing the footage into video editing software like Adobe Premiere or DaVinci resolve, there is no point in shooting in ProRes. ProRes is just an intermediary codec designed for video editing software.

There is no increase in video quality. ProRes isn't a "raw" codec, so all the post-processing sharpening and noise reduction that the iPhone does is also baked into the ProRes file. It's not like a DNG or raw image where you can do all the post processing in software, and bypass the phones internal processing.

I'm a video editor by profession and don't even bother with ProRes on my phone... having said that I never use an iPhone for professional video work anyway - and the times when I've needed to use my phone, the standard HEVC codec is more than good enough for run and gun shooting.

You're heading down the "t" path again, Dolby.

And to clarify this, I think normal people see the iPhone crowd as punting what they can do & ignoring what they can’t. Blaming everyone else for short comings and never admitting that things can be better.

Moving goal posts and changing believes as a new keynote comes out.

And then the ‘Do not speak ill of in iPhone’. That’s my crime - I started a thread with things that can be improved :(
