I get the feeling the notch is staying and maybe getting the new function of those orange and green indicators for camera and mic to be implemented inside of it.

All this mess with pin-hole + pill shape cutout or just one big pill shape cutout seems a little off for Apple, but maybe the true new design is somewhere in between.

I was contemplating a 14 to replace my 12 but if the rumours around SoC and notch are true I might just get a 13 instead and save some money.

I think Photography will be the big thing this year, new and bigger main sensor, and a new selfie camera with AF which will be great.

Apple will certainly put a nugget in there to pull people in, lol, they never fail at that!

With the A16 chip still being based on 5nm like A14 and A15, I think it will be difficult for them to show big number jumps in Performance and AI, so Photography and possible new design may be what they lean on a lot.

I have a DSLR for photography, I just take pictures with a phone camera so it's not something I consider beyond "does it take decent pictures" which tbh even the iPhone 12 does very well.

My work phone is due for an upgrade and I have deferred it to see what comes out on Wednesday. Contemplating going back to iPhone or getting the S22U. My first flagship in many years.
 
Just an update on the phone theft, I opened a case of theft at Douglasdale Police Station and the guys have been very good at following up throughout this week (opened the case on Monday after getting the ITC number from Vodacom).

The detective went to the establishment to go look at CCTV footage and sure enough they can identify the moment my phone gets taken, but here’s the kicker, the person/people seem to be fully aware of where the Cameras in the establishment are and so of course they hide their faces while inside which is not hard as it was pretty packed.

Detective said they simply cannot see the faces but they can see the movement of these people as they take phones.

Ultimately folks, be very vigilant, there does seem to be syndicates targeting the Fourways area, there was a video recently of a lady who was mugged while jogging on Fountain Rd right here in Lonehill just a few KMs from where I was.

Also in terms of Find My iPhone, my 11 Pro Max was in and around Broadacres for most of Saturday, it took a brief trip to Braamfontein and then came back, the peeps at Vodacom say it’s probably the their trying to sell it but probably could not get a buyer due to the phone being in Lost Mode, chances are it will be take a apart and sold for parts.

Nope, they didn’t, they called me to tell me what they saw.
They asked that if there is anymore movements I must let them know. I did show them where in Broadacres for the phone was last pinging and the issue they discovered is that it’s in a complex full of apartments, so they cannot identify things like apartment unit and block.

What do you actually do on your phone?

And I don’t mean it badly, it’s just the every user is a power user and no one does much on their phone other than benchmark and 3D renders

Not a power user, I use the phone for calls, texting, other messaging, browsing, music, satnav and some streaming. I will take snaps with the phone but it's generally just for business use and to show the odd image on the phone or iPad.
 
IMO anyone that claims they’re a “phone power user” is *not* one. A true phone power user will not claim to be one but will just get down to business.
 
Periodic reminder: Everything you've seen so far are renders and we won't know what the phone will look like until Wednesday.

And I’m just asking because every issue or question is that no one uses that.

Cropping / camera / Snapseed/ 3rd party shading / health apps / high speed charging etc etc etc etc Just no one uses anything

So I’m curious about what people do with iPhones in general .

I prefer not to get into a how long is a piece of string argument that has zero end result.

Not able to comment if Sauron is one, I don't recall seeing him posting explicitly that he is one.
