Very happy with mine, battery life is really not too bad.

I normally charge up to 80%, but one day last month I had to fly up to JHB, so I left home at 5am with a 100% charge, normal use throughout the day, only the next morning around 9am I put it on charge and it still had 20% left.

The 16PM according to the rumours will have something like a 10-15% higher battery capacity? That wouldn’t necessarily translate into a 10-15% longer time span…what if the A18 chip is 10-15% more power hungry than the A17?

Will there be a worthwhile improvement in battery life between a 15PM and 16PM? Probably not. Is there a noteworthy difference in battery life between a 12PM and a 15 or 16 PM? Sure.

It doesn’t help worrying about the newest model all the time - the 16 series is gonna be old news in 13 months anyway. If you worry that the 15 will not have certain features that the 16 will, just remember 3 years ago the 13 series came out without some of the features that the 15 series have now, and everyone still thought it was the best thing ever.

My advice, if you really plan on keeping the phone for a number of years, and you have no urgency and can wait for another 2-3 months (remember, stock of a new model is always a problem at the beginning), then sure, maybe stick it out and get the 16.

But if you have a semi urgency to get a new phone soon and you can get the 15 at a good price, go for it.
 
my 15 Pro Max is at 90% battery health at 318 cycles while my 13 Pro Max was at 100% battery health (measured by Coconutbattery) at 400 cycles

i dont know how accurate or useful the health percentage is, but the cycle count definitely matters so im kinda mad about that. my 14 Pro Max was sorta midway between the 13 and 15, so this trend is not good

Have my eye on the 15PM at a pretty good price which might not be available for not too long from now, but worried about buyer's remorse when the 16 Pro drops😅

Judging by the leaks I wouldn't really be missing out on much unless the A18 Pro chip is leaps ahead and Apple bumps the RAM up. The battery improvements also making me do a double take.

Not super hyped about Apple Intelligence per se, just worried about longevity of updates as I plan on holding on to it for a bit.

Pretty happy on my side, battery life still great, performance overall has been amazing on my 15 Pro Max, I am on my 2nd 15PM so battery health is still 100% health.

The 16 Pro Max is seemingly going to be very similar to 15 PM, with the exception of screen getting larger, slightly bigger battery and the Ultra Wide Camera being upgraded from 12 MP to 48 MP, along with the A18 Pro chip of course.

The 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max will probably see very good longevity as rumours have it that 16 Pro/Pro Max will use the same 8GB RAM, also the M4 chip performance (what A18 Pro will be based on) is not a huge jump from an AI perspective to A17 Pro, in terms of CPU/GPU performance we will probably see a ~10% increase (take that with a pinch of salt).

It is definitely not an ideal time to get a new iPhone, but if you are getting the 15 PM at a solidly good price (significantly lower than most retailers) I would say go for it. If you are getting it at similar prices as retailers, may as well wait for 16 PM and avoid buyers remorse.

Goodness. Following the motoring industry with extended finance periods now. Not worth it, in my opinion. Two years were okay/decent between upgrades, three years are a bit of a stretch but still doable. Four years are too long, unless one only upgrades every 4-5 years anyway (everybody's circumstances are different).

The 36 month contract price for this particular model and package is R1,079 - only R200 more expensive. I can't even walk out of my local supermarket for less than R200 a shot nowadays. So I personally will not go for a 48 month contract.

Running some numbers here - the sim only (no phone) tariff for this package (Vodacom Red 1.3Gb / 200min) is R411.

So on a 36 month contract, the handset installment is (R1,079 - R411) = R668. R688 x 36 = R24,048 for the phone in the end.
On this 48 month contract, the handset installment is (R879 - R411) = R468. R468 x 48 = R22,464 for the phone in the end.
(have excluded annual/regular increases, because that affects the package, not the handset installment)

So the phone works out cheaper over a longer period? Weird. Unless there are other factors at play that I don't know about.

Think some of these deals are more ideal for companies or content creators as well to write off these amounts longer

They’ve always screwed you on the airtime and data.

Not everyone wants the newest, some want the best deal and networks will usually do that with last years model.

Just because a newer model comes out, doesn’t mean the outgoing model turns into a POS instantly.

Any iPhone 15 is still a nice piece of kit, which will be supported for many years. The 16 series is already just one year away from being replaced :ROFL:

The people who laugh at the oke buying an iPhone 15 a day before the 16’s announcement, are the same people who say “the 16 is boring, looks the same as the 15, Apple should have called it the 15S, nothing to get excited about, I will rather wait for the 17, blah blah blah” when the 16 comes out :laugh:

But if you pay the same price for the older model a day before the new one launch, you kind off stupid?
 
The most painful thing is buying an Apple device a couple of weeks short of new version coming out. My reason is simple it’s not because I would rather have the newest one but is because historically Apple would drop the old ones prices and maintain the flagship price point for the newest model. It happened to me once and though I had no choice it was very annoying. If you want to still be on the older model if you can wait till the new one comes out and get the best price deal. Personally I don’t upgrade every year but anytime I upgrade anything- even home appliances I get the most recent model for future proofing. My partner prefers to wait and get the immediate past model for saving. To each their own.
