iPhone 3G S on its way

No, it beats it in every possible way. Outlook beats Entourage into the ground among other things, and the ribbon interface is far superior to the 2008 version. Trust me, I would know, I administer 10 Macs at work (the people who use them say the same thing) and use one myself.

Out of interest, what is the fastest rate you can get typing at on your iPhone keyboard?

The S stands for Speed btw.
 
How about getting something really usefull, like the new HTC Touch Pro 2? Not a gimmick like that half baked bitten apple.
 
I don't quite understand why everyone is so against the iPhone. I for one am more than pleased with the fact that I have ditched my HTC and moved to an iPhone. It's not so much about the existance of a dedicated graphics chip or WM, but rather ease of use [that is important to me].

WM is not made to be used without a stylus and I don't care what anyone says, you won't convince me otherwise. Especially since I've been there done that, lol.

Now the real question is, when will iTunes be 'officially' supported in SA?
 
The announcement listed a bunch of countries to get the iPhone 3G S in August. How can Vodacom then be expected to launch in July?

You'll notice that the vast majority of those who so 'fiercely' comment on the iPhone do not actually own one nor have they used one for any period longer than a few minutes, if at all.

As I've often posted before, in an ideal world, would it not be great if people actually only posted on phones they've used themselves for at least a few weeks? Including reviewers.

But unfortunately we'll always have those with us who are so fanatical about a brand that all reason goes out the window. :rolleyes:

And I'm not talking about Apple supporters here. ;)

Hey V3G, what ever happened to Vodacom launching visual voicemail? Wasn't that supposed to come some 6 months after iPhone 3G launch in SA?

Yep. I agree. My brother in law looked at the specs and bought and omnia because "its better for cheaper". I got the iphone 3g on launch and everyone tut tuted when they heard about the pay in I did.

We spent about a week together on a project a while ago and after actually using the iphone compared to the omnia over a length of time all he could say was "at least it was cheap"..

only after extended use does the response and intuitiveness of the touch screen become aparent, and the fact that you can still read the screen in direct sunlight, just to name 2 of the "non feature" features.

The new iphone makes me sick tho...:sick: only because I won't be getting one anytime soon...
 
I think what does it for me really, is that the iPhone is the first bit of technology which I have owned for an extended period of time, which still manages to surprise me, or give me that sense of “kewl, did you see that”.

I wonder if Vodacom will offer the Pay-in option ($399 or $499) for those of us still on the original iPhone contract. I will definitely go for that. Who would have thought that my 16G would just not be enough?
 
Hope we don't end up in the same situation as last year. Always thinking that tomorrow may just be the launch date, while Vodacom keeps mum on everything.
 
I like how people moan about features they probably don't use. No video calling on the iPhone? Do you actually use it on your handset that does support it? Chances are not.

I won't be able to afford an iPhone for some time to come, but I'd get one anyways.

You mean where Vodacom was 'forced' to keep mum. ;)

Apple controls the whole process and the operators have little say in anything. Hopefully it's better this time around.

i'd admit the previous iphones lacked a bit of the standard features, like mms and video rec....but all those were solved with third party apps...and are 'legitimately' solved with the 3GS. So the apparent 1% ownership of Iphone users against worldwide mobile users will start to grow significantly.

Last night it was said that 60% of web users on the mobile was accessed via Safari(Iphone).
I was a Apple hater till a couple of months ago, till I got my 3G.

plus, what other phone allows you to shake to undo or even control the mp3 player(the IPOD on the IPHONE 3GS) through voice control...EVERY FUNCTION OF THE MP3 FUNCTIONALITY!....or has OPEN GL ES 2.0 (OPEN "EFFIN" GL , FOLKS!)

no,no,no...if your still not a apple fan , or at least Iphone fan after this then your just illiterate or jealous!

Yeah it would appear that way, except for the previous and subsequent slides that had other dates on them. It definitely the 9th of July, but Vodacom could make it whenever.
 
I have an iPhone 3G. Bought it cash on the date of its release last year. I'll be getting a new one, so long as it doesn't cost all that much.

Did the other slides have the hanging ' before the number? That generally indicates the year its absense indicates a date.

Don't forget the app store. Dunno how good the SA one is since I'm connected to a Euro app
store, but there are LOADS of games and apps for the iPhone on it.

Btw. our local game devs are also making games for iPhone.
If you have one, try and find Marble Blast Mobile from http://www.lumaarcade.com/
and the company I work for, Web&Circus SA studio, also have few iPhone titles to be released very soon.
