Probably budget a bajillion down payment and then a bajillion for the next 24 months :D

That is certainly one thing stopping me - the price. I'm up for upgrade in November though and there'll (hopefully) be some tough choices.
 
does anyone have additional information regarding the launch date or if MTN has started taking orders ?

I spoke to their retentions department this morning but the call centre lady was really rude, and very unhelpful...
I finally got an email address for the manager of retentions call centre and Mailed him for some information, but nothing yet.
 
You know I ported from MTN to Vodacom to get a iPhone after 9 years. If I knew how crap the Vodacom network was I would have bit the bullet a little longer.

i dont see why this issue is off topic when MTN has not released prices pushing people to opt for Vodacom. and then there's a comment about Vodacom's inferior network. one should quantify their statements.
 
Just update for everyone waiting for MTN like me...
The Rentension Department at MTN is still Clueless , They have no idea that they will be launching this product nor do they stock micro sim cards or have any idea what they are...
I am starting to think they might not make end of September...
 
Any updates on the MTN launch? I phoned ALL the shops in the Cape Town area - and NO-ONE knew anything about the iphone...
 
It's been 2 weeks since they announced the IPHONE 4 but MTN Retentions department still doesn't have any information regarding this product , I also spoke to the marketing department who is uninformed...
I just can't see this launch happening in September...

mtn normally bring out new specials 2nd week of the month

Does anyone know who the local distributors are for the iPhone 4? Core isnt it...
 
any ideas on pricing or actual release date yet? Was about to push the button on BB 9700. Now I'd like to wait and see what my options are
 
vokol. waiting till Monday for the new listings. dunno if it will be on there. its either 9700, galaxy s or iphone for me.
 
I phoned MTN direct and the people there are idiots. I got through to 3 different people and each had a different story. One sales person said only in October or November but the explanation about stock was so garbled that I'm not sure what she said. The other two sales people one said that management had told them nothing about MTN releasing a iphone and the other told me that they were told MTN was not releasing the iphone. (ffs people it's the biggest freaking add on the MTN direct site)

I phoned the head office and encountered nothing but rude people. I suppose it is a friday afternoon but still...

I cannot believe that companies like MTN allows people like that to work in their call centre. It's pretty much the same with Vodacom as well. 3 people in the same Vodashop has now given me 5 different stories in the span of 1 month...

How difficult is it to send an email to all staff saying: "iPhone will be launched on ________. If a customer asks, tell them that"
